I Love YTtalk
See, even this thread could be inspiration though!
I feel like we should do a collab of all this lovely imagery.
That wouldn't be a horrible idea!

I know that there is another thread like this, but I noticed that most people said stuff like "I get my ideas in the shower", or "on the toilet" What I want to know are what exercises , if any, you do to pluck those ideaflowers?
Ex. Picking things at random and building off of them
That does make sense. I've been having little ideas randomly pop in my head. I'm just scared that it will stop, or not happen soon enoughI think having ideas flow has a lot to do with being relaxed - hence the ideas coming on the shower or in the toilet - I heard someone famous describe the source like a little shy creature that lives in your head that only comes out when you are relaxed and the slightest thing can send it back into hiding. Or something.
Basically ideas flow best when you are not thinking about IDEAS. Idea is just a word, think about what you are doing or have done. Write random stuff down. Concentrate on a idea that comes and isn't even that good. Do anything that isn't concentrating directly on a good idea because the stress of trying to have a good idea will chase that little creature away.
Thats what I try and do.
DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO! hahaha[DOUBLEPOST=1457409452][/DOUBLEPOST]I love to play disc golf and find a lot of ideas come to me there. I bought a cheapo voice recorder (nowadays you could just use your phone haha) a long time ago to hum musical phrases into when they came to me. The funny thing about that plan was that most of my ideas ended up coming to me in the library. I either had to go to a corner like a loon and hum into my recorder or run out of the library to do it in my car. I'm sure the people who worked at the library didn't like me.
Keeping your computer next to you sounds really useful! When it comes to music, I'm trying really hard to learn several instruments, which makes it difficult for me to start writing because I feel like I should be able to accompany myself. It shouldn't be that way, thinking about it now. hahaMy ideas always come to me in the 2-3 hours that it takes me to get to sleep. I sleep with my computer on and right next to me, because I always get lyrical or musical phrases popping into my head, or an idea for a song to cover that I just run to audacity or a text doc and record or write down so I don't lose them. I have so many voice memos and different lyrical documents on my computer now because of that XD
Listening to music - for me, I listen to a lot of video game scores, Celtic, folk, and Medieval music so I get inspired to create. It puts me in that whimsical fantasy mood that I need to get into to write the type of music I like to write. Also, watching shows, listening to modern music, or falling in love with a certain song and going "I need to cover this NOWWW" and learning it in 2 days like a mad woman lmao.
But yeah, I don't really have any concrete ways of getting my creative juices flowing. Sometimes I get in really crazily manic creative moods where I can't stop for weeks, and other times I can't even get motivated to work on something I've been working on for a while. The curse of being an artist, I suppose~
Hey! I went to college for musical theatre!I used to do theatre a lot by nowerdays I can't due to my time being consumed by everything lol. So I find myself script writing and writing stories and now my mind has become even more visual and descriptive as before.
My exercise which will help anyone out with finding ideas is first to find something that really grabs you or you think is great.
For example I like gaming. Boom! first step done! lol
or could be theatre, films, picking my nose what ever.
Now begin to ask yourself questions.
Why do I like it?
What else do I like?
Can I combine the two together?
I like improvisational comedy and gaming. So I am trying to mix the two. What improv games can I do? How can I make it work for a gaming video? etc etc
For script writing its much easier to explain.....should have really started with that......meh!
I'm currently writing a fantasy story and I liked the idea of a forest.
What does the forest look like? is it dead? over grown? dark? bright? Lively?
So you enter the forest. Why? whats your purpose?
You discover the towns people have never been deep enough inside and those who do always get lost and end up where they started. They are afraid of whats inside and want you to find it and destroy it.
So whats the "thing" inside? is it actually evil? Could the "evil" within have already escaped?
by asking simple questions your ideas can develop profoundly and this often helps me get passed writers block. It tends to spark new ideas and possabilities I had never thought about before.
I believe this will be a great way of building something great from something very minor.
Having a gamer channel I would imagine is hard. There are so many, and you have to have something about you to keep people wanting more. It's hard I think.Maybe I'm just a creative person...but I've honestly NEVER had an issue coming up with ideas. I have a channel based around what I like to do, so I have ideas because its my hobby already.
For those who say "you do gaming its easy" I have other channels I don't post publicly because they are more so personal controversial topic discussions that I don't always make public as friends get p****d IRL, haha.
Thanks. It sounds kind of relaxing. I'd probably have a hard time with it. I'd be in my head too much. I'll try though![DOUBLEPOST=1457410134][/DOUBLEPOST]Go outside and observe.
It sounds simple, but it's a bit hard at first, yet it always will give you the inspiration you need to create. After all, you're making material you like, but your audience will only enjoy it, if you learn how to tailor the material to them, without compromising your own integrity.
I drive through Philadelphia and New York City all the time and even around my neighborhood and just let what I see bring the inspiration to me. Trust me, get out, take a walk, go shop, go chill on a bench and you will know what to do. Honestly. Good Luck, love.
Lucky. lolMy ideas came in my sleep.
