What Motivated You To Start Your Channel?

Kelly Gets Fit

I've Got It
I honestly want to know.. what motivated you to start your own YouTube channel? Did you think it would become popular or did you do it for a laugh?

Basically my channel is documenting my weight loss journey and all though I've lost 50lbs BEFORE I started my channel (Which I'm kinda bummed about!) I still have 20lbs to go, I started my channel to help those who are on the same path as me, so I make vlogs about what I eat, exercise, weigh ins, before and after progression pictures and just rambles.

I'm not expecting much from my channel and I've already received hate because I haven't got straight teeth nor am I the best looking, BUT I don't really care because I am on my own successful path and I can change my looks if I wanted to, but NOT for the benefit of being more attractive for more viewers. I'm just an average girl with a weight loss issue and all I'm doing is showing people that you don't have to have everything in life to be happy x

i think your motivation is a honest and thats important. a lot of people start channels for instant success and fame, but to have an actual personal goal is far more commendable. people tend to relate to that realness. my motivation to start is my inner need to create and make, i figure that other people will like what i make, so why not share that.

I wanted to be part of the MotoVlogging community after watching a motovlogger named bakerXderek. I vlogged in my car for 2 years before I finally got my lisence stateside (had one in the Netherlands) and got a bike.

Now that I have a motorcycle I am finally fully part of that community and I am having more fun than ever! I am not expecting it to go anywhere, but I produce the best I can regardless of that fact. If it does blow up down the line I did my best to make it so. If it doesn't? Best hobby ever. Either way I am good.

My first channel is about chess. I made it at the age of 13, because I was in love with chess and wanted to teach others.

My second channel is about biology&chemistry. I created this one, because teaching others helps me learning.

If i went into what motivated me to start a Youtube channel, i'll end up writing a 1,000 word novel on here. So i'll just put it like this. I was 12, i saw let's play videos. It influenced me, then i saw news videos, compilations, reviews, top 10s and it blew my mind. Then i started doing youtube at 13 and i said to my self " i will conquer youtube and influence people". And that's just putting it short. Btw, i love your reason to start a Youtube channel. People like you make the world much better than society does itself :).

I started my channel because of a lot of reasons and a channel was the single answer to all these things actually. It sorta just occurred to me one day.

Firstly, I didn't want my video editing skills to become rusty
Secondly, i get an excuse to buy and try new food
Thirdly, I'm making content that I want to see
Fourthly, just in case I can't find a job in the future, the extra dollars could help (if i actually make any)

Firstly, congratz on your weightloss :)

Hmm what was my motivation... I always wanted to do youtube. 7 years ago I uploaded my very first video but since my parents didnt want me to use the internet I had to stop.
Last year my doctor said I need a new hobby because I was in deep depressions... And voila, I decided to try out YouTube again.
YT has been my therapy since then and I am happy that I started because its the best thing Ive done.
:)

I started it as my 6 year old wanted to start making youtube videos of him gaming. I'm a massive gaming and so it's a shared passion. We enjoy doing it, he's really rather good at it (shames a lot of grown up players :-) and we spend time having a laugh together.
