What makes you subscribe to a musician/cover artist?

The title is pretty straightforward. I feel like with music, and covers in particular, it's hard to get people to subscribe even if they like your video. There are often so many covers of the same song and I think people just listen to a few seconds of a bunch of covers out of curiosity. What makes you think while watching a cover "Hey, I want to subscribe to them!" ?

I only subscribe if the cover is something I haven't already seen. I saw a cover where there was 5 people with 1 guitar. It was so interesting that I had to subscribe.

To be honest I don't. Unless the channel is a)known for something else or B)I really love the artist, I'd just YouTube search or download the song lol.[DOUBLEPOST=1376883235,1376883152][/DOUBLEPOST]

Was it the Barelypolitical version or the Canadian version of somebody I used to know? :P Idk, maybe it was something else.

That's kind of what I was thinking is true for most people. I haven't posted any originals just yet, so I'm kind of in the stage of working up to that. I have quite a few written or partially written and some things recorded on a few. For now though, on my music channel I'm just a cover artist. I have a separate channel for vlogging and one I'm turning into a skit/reviews channel (More edited things.) I know having it all together may increase the subscribers but then I think what if they don't want vlogs and reviews/skits?

I usually sub to musicians who are really talented :) People who write songs with meanings, having a nice voice, they do something unique. Many, many, MANY of the people I am subbed to are original song writers...and sometimes their talent just blows me away. I don't typically subscribe to people who do only cover songs. Although, there are cover songs that I think are aammmmaazing :)

You can do a vlog to stall time until you have an original ready for release.
