What made you gain the most subscribers?

I feel like discoverability is super important, equal to sharability. For example, you could have great vlogs or gaming videos, but people wouldn't really share those videos unless they were hilariously funny or something. People would just have to find it themselves through search.

So what moment or strategy gave you personally the most subscribers? For example, you could say "when I made a Star Wars parody right before The Force Awakens came out".

Posting to YT Talk and Live streaming have been the things that made me grow the most. Interacting with viewers is the key.

My Rinse & Repeat video helped me gain the most subscribers and viewers because of Pewdiepie. He refused to do something in the game, which led to people searching for it. I saw a boost of over 5,000 views and over 25 subs from that one little decision of his and mine to make my thumbnail stand out a bit more. I haven't any growth like that since but I'm still happy to have a gateway video for people to discover my channel!

I'd have to say when one of my dog videos got shared and got like 100k views over a couple days and the time some Facebook radio page with millions of posted a Facebook version of a video of mine with my channel link.

Agree with the points you brought up 100%.

For me being an animator working on short parodies usually means that it can be both discovered well and is shareable. The only thing is upload frequency >.<

My most recent video was by far my most popular in terms of converting a viewer into a subscriber. It was also featured on the front page of Newgrounds as well :)

My new series seems to be working out pretty well. I do have a hard time getting a specific audience but I'm working hard on it :)

Well, My Miley Parody video has 5000 views so far and is still racking in views non stop.... jumping on viral videos with optimized tags will always make you more 'discover-able' ...... though it isn't my favorite video, I just wanted to see if some optimized tags paired with a video that was getting a lot of attention would gain some attention itself..... which it did.... probably gained 35 subs from that....

But by my 5th video I already had 100 subs..... it's been a slower crawl since.... but promoting on social media and YTTalk interaction are always good go to's.... though I am always in search of places to share my comedy videos if anyone has any suggestions ;)

People found my videos through the YouTube Search and subscribed. Never promoted it anywhere.

Well I'd say your channel has great discoverability, since it's something a lot of people would search. Even the greatest comedy channels would be hard to discover based solely on search function just because the titles and plot could be about anything, whereas you specifically do tutorials on DSLRs.

The youtubers subreddit on reddit has given me a bit of exposure... Great way to view other ppl's work too, since they make you review two other videos before you can post your own video.
