What I've Learnt About Gaining Subscribers

Hey guys,
So I've been doing Youtube for a fair few months now, and currently I'm at 165 subscribers. In this time I feel like I've learnt a little about gaining/losing subscribers.
So for a while I only posted gameplay videos, of Minecraft, Skyrim etc. I really didn't get a lot of traction doing this, averaging about 45 views a video.
In the last week I've posted some different videos that were more original, such as "The Elder Scrolls VI - Location Ideas And More". This video gained roughly 200 views in a day, and the view count it still rising steadily. I also got roughly 15 subscribers too (so far). From this I have gleaned that it's not necessarily how many videos you upload that get you subscribers, rather it's how interesting and original they are. I mean, who is going to want to watch your Minecraft let's play when there are already thousands of other one's out there? You need to make original content that people will want to watch in order to get bigger.
I'm no expert, but this seems like some solid advice. Any feedback/contributions are welcome :)
Thanks,
Avarti.

Good advice man! We're working on creating original content and hoping our music videos will do well. Thanks for sharing :)

Creativity is definitely a key factor. Also, not being afraid to test different ideas and see how they work, and giving up on the ideas and subjects that aren't working for you.

I agree. Creativity is the key to being successful on youtube. This is why its hard to grow just playing COD or minecraft because youtube is so over saturated with content creators for these games.

Well - yes. Of course. No one is going to want to watch boring or poorly produced videos, especially if there are a million others just like it. It's the old quality vs quantity balance. Make sure you're on the right side of it. Don't upload garbage and then expect people to engage.

Definitely agree! Really good tips to a new content creator - I know until recently I kept on posting the same content and then being like "Why is no one viewing my stuff more!" XD now I am working on new ideas, and upgrading my equipment to implement said new ideas.

Yup! YouTube is saturated with creators from every genre imaginable, so you've got to really work in order to stand out. For some, it's innate - and for others, it might take some time. But I'd say it's what makes you different that will benefit you the most!
