What is the main mistake?

What's a good way of doing this?
Find out which kind of people like your content (e.g. plumbers who have their own business). Then go to forums, G+ communities and subreddits that are about the topics (e.g. big pipes and small businesses) and get involved there. That means you answer on other peoples questions in a meaningful way. If you can build your answer around one of your video links. Run an AdWords campaign and use really specific keywords.
Asking for feedback in video maker communities is good to get bad mistakes sorted out but people will likely also click away as soon as they found something they can give feedback on. Creators usually have little time to spend as they need to create their own videos.

I'm probably no one to talk but I feel like especially for a new channel the first few seconds of a video are what's most important to get people to sub. Someone who doesn't know what you do needs to be given an immediate reason to watch this video and give you a chance before what little attention he was willing to give you vanishes. That means no overlong intros, no audio problems in the beginning, no starting to build a joke that will have its punchline minutes into the video, no dicking around on other topics that are barely related to what the video title suggests and so on.

I say make flyers and put them on cars at the supermarket. Just don't get caught. The fines are kind of steep.

Inconsistency is the absolute worst thing. I've been subscribed to more new YouTube channels that start out, upload every day, then every other day, then skip a week, then upload four more in a row, and then nothing for months, a huge apology, and then they try again. Also, no idea of what the channel is about. It's okay to be eclectic, but have a point of view. I'll follow a YouTuber along for lots of things, but not if it just seems like you're making videos because you're chasing views. Make videos you, yourself will want to see, and there's a chance the viewers will want to see them as well.

I think the main mistake is not putting your best effort into each and every video. You have to be able to say that it was the best you could possibly do with the footage and the means you had at the time of production. Never upload stuff you don't have your full effort into. It shows, and people really don't like if when there is no passion there.
