What is good for game-recording and screen-recording?

For my game recordings I use FRAPS, and to record my screen I use Cam Studio or Debut Video Capture.

Does anyone else know of any software that is better?

If You want better quality, desktop and ingame recording at once you should try Mirillis Action. If you are interested in getting free licence key after testing 30 day free trial i heard that if you write to Mirillis Team on their site and prove that u are recording games sharing videos on YT u will get it for free. Fraps eats alot of FPS, Dxtory is so much better for me. The file size is big as Fraps, but thank God I have Vegas which compresses my videos from 30 gb to 700 mb

I used Fraps initially but for games like Skyrim which use a lot of cpu power etc... my fps dropped below 20. I then switched to Dxtory which doesn't have as big as an effect on framerate.

I now use Fraps for less power hungry games and Dxtory for the rest. I like Dxtory because you can record multiple audio tracks at the same time which makes it easy if you are recording you're voice.

Both are of similar quality and you can't really tell the difference. Fraps files sizes are smaller than Dxtory by a long way Dxtory files are massive - 40 min 1080p 30fps in Fraps is around 80GB whereas Dxtory would be around 180GB.

For either programs i suggest you use a good hard drive to record to with a fast write speed as this will help boost game performance when recording a SSD would be ideal.

Both Dxtory and Fraps record the game audio but if you want to record you're voice both will also do that as well although Fraps will record all audio into one channel or track so you cannot edit the levels afterwards whereas Dxtory will output in multiple channels so you can easily edit each one.

I personally do not like to use Fraps to record my voice so i use Audacity but i really like dxtory for everything.

What i need is something record my voice while i am playing because I too dislike fraps.

You can try total screen recorder, it is nice recorder software, i am using it.
