Hey I was just wondering what is everones work flow? Mine is get the shots. Throw it into premiere pro. Do a rough edit. Then fine tune those edits. Then I move onto vfx (if needed) which I use dynamic link to after effects for that. Then I work on sound/audio. Then finally before exporting. I either colorgrade using Davinci resolve (for bigger projects) or magic bullet looks (for smaller quicker projects). So what is your work flow?

i arrange a song, play it, record it, (mix it if needed), edit the video, upload it, edit title, desc., tags :)

Only on my fifth video but that is pretty much my work flow as well, though I haven't used after effects yet. I do like to put in titles with my rough edit to see how it looks early on.

My post production workflow is to import my footage off my SD Card, go though it in iPhoto and delete bad takes / put good takes in a folder on my desktop.

If any of the shots require VFX I boot up After Effects CC and get to work on them, then render them out and place them in the same folder as my other clips.

Then start up FCPX, import my folder into a new event and get to work on the clips.

(I use a external microphone system to get my audio, so I need to sync audio with video before I start editing, FCPX makes this SOOOOO easy.)

After I have all the clips in place and I have a rough cut of my film, I add sound effects / music if needed, add my intro template, and then color correct the footage if needed.

After all that I watch it though and fine tune any clips if needed.

Then render that sucker out to the desktop and begin the upload to YouTube, while that is happening I open Photoshop and make a custom thumbnail to add once the upload is complete.

All in a days work!

Lets see.....I do gadget reviews, so keepng this basic it would be somet like this......

1. Test item
2. Create script/brainstorm what to cover in review
3. Film raw footage
4. Import footage to Final Cut Pro X
[Optional] If importing GoPro footage then convert into ProRes422 via MPeg StreamClip first
5. Place all footage into timeline, then edit intro, transitions, audio effects, outro with related videos.
6. Check over entire project
7. Render and export to file
8. Create thumbnail image
9. Upload video to YouTube (usually do this from work where the upload is around 80Mbps!)
10. Upload thumbnail
11. Add tags etc
12. Add annotations in outro to related videos, channel, subscribe, etc
13 Watch video to check (and give it a thumbs up ;) )
14. Make video pubic when required

1. Get idea
2. Make script
3. Build sets
4. Animate
5. Make frames to a video (After Effects)
6. Add effects (After Effects)
7. Combine the shots in Premiere
8. Add sound effects (Premiere as well)
9. Export and Upload

  • Test record to check settings.
  • RECORD
  • Watch video and note times of interesting and important sections
  • Open in Vegas Pro. Make any cuts and sort out transitions.
  • RENDER
  • Watch and check for any issues.
  • Find and add suitable music.
  • RENDER
  • Watch for any problems.
  • UPLOAD
  • While uploading, organize metadata.
  • After uploading, add annotations.

I do many kinds of video types, but I'll post my vlog style workflow..
1. Brainstorm ideas for about half an hour on paper, choose best idea
2. Plug DSLR directly into computer so I can have remote capture enabled, helps to better frame shots
3. Turn shotgun mic on
4. Get general idea of what I'm going to say before recording in my head
5. Hit record and go on about what I need to say, Usually unscripted with only a few guidelines of what needs saying
6. Export footage to computer
7. Review footage, do retakes if needed and get rid of bad takes
8. Place footage into Premiere timeline, edit transitions etc as needed.
9. (for some videos) Place pre-done intro at the beginning if needed
10. Export H.246 720p (forgot bitrate and rest of settings used..)
11. Upload to YouTube, enter title, tags, etc
12. Whilst video is being uploaded, make thumbnail, when the video files sizes are tiny I tend to do this as step 11 so my video does not get uploaded without a thumb
13. Upload thumbnail, enter tags and descriptions
14. Publish
15. I've automated the posting of my videos to most social media sites, Tumblr, Twiter, etc.. So I have a lot less to do to promote it
...Yea bit of a crappy workflow, But I haven't given it much though..Going to try and optimise it in the future
I also suck at writing these..

I just decided on it yesterday with my brother. It is finalized :D But, that's a trade secret. You'll have to sign a non-disclosure agreement to find out :p
