What is a good webcam recording software

I am currently looking for a free or cheap webcam recording software. I can't find any of them that I like or even work. The one that I have been using for a long time turns off at random sometimes which is not good for videos. What do you guys use for your webcam recorders. I am also on a windows 8 machine so there was nothing built in that came with the computer (that I know of at least).

When I brought my webcam 2 days ago I just downloaded the Logitech one but you can do it by windows movie maker to they are the only 2 I know
