What, in your opinion makes good effective branding and artwork?

Seem as though branding and artwork can be very personal and what is effective for one may not work for another I am curious to know what attracts you in when it comes to branding and artwork and also what you have found to be successful on your channel.
 
Something colorful, and not too dark. As well, the colors have to work together and it has to at least have a good layout, as in not being cluttered.
 
I am aware of material design but I didn't think about that thanks man will probably do something like that now you say it, cheers buddy that's a great idea!!
 
It needs to make sense; you can't just slap a heap of images onto a canvas and expect it to look good.

You need to have an understanding of the colour spectrum, a keen eye for detail and the equipment to do your job well. I've been designing every day for 4 years, and I'm still adapting.

Colourful backgrounds and/or fonts, with an attractive but simple pattern can make a massive difference.

Since you want an honest opinion; your current artwork isn't that good.

Can I message you further privately on Skype or something? Apparently conversations like this can get me in trouble for "derailing" or some crap.
 
In my opinion, you have a bit too much text. It looks very basic, with only two colors and no drop shadows or patterns. I like your idea, but you just need to improve on it a bit more :)
