What Have You Missed About YouTube?

YouTube has changed soooooo much over the years and some of the changes were good some were bad. What was your best memory about YouTube? Say Below. For me it would be when you could decorate your background on your channel page or when you had an inbox to contact people. Those were the days.
 
Same. I also missed the layout and the nostalgia of the old days. I hated YouTube back then but i was only 8 or 9 but now looking back at it, the whole design and how it was this new platform that everybody just discovered brought a new era to the internet.
 
when it was full of ms paint vids and anime amvs.... Those were the days. Also the inbox, I want it back :c
 
- Inbox
- Collections
- Video Responses
- Subscriber Feed front and center, not 3 clicks away
- 5 star rating system, not just Like/dislike
- Comment system that didn't require Google+ and wasn't tied to some terrible algorithm that sorts your comments out based on how popular the person commenting is
- Comment dislikes actually doing something (they used to mark messages as spam automatically if they got enough dislikes, now they just get 'pushed down' by the afore-mentioned terrible sorting algorithm)
- Modifiable profiles to make your channel more unique, someone mentioned the background image but there was a lot of other stuff you could do (though I understand why they got rid of this)
- The same random videos being promoted to everyone on the front page instead of the terrible 'Suggested' algorithm

Oh, and speaking of the 'Suggested' algorithm, the 'Up Next' feature up until VERY RECENTLY (like 2 weeks ago) used to put videos from the same channel, and especially videos that were next in a playlist. This was GREAT for channel retention and growth for creators, now it seems to follow the same algorithm as 'Suggested' which is to say, 'Up Next' links to random unrelated garbage that you never wanted to watch ever.

So basically, every feature Youtube has removed or screwed up over the years lol...
 
The time before google took over youtube. And the good old times when people just made videos about something, and not record themselves in some videolog about their lives.
 
I miss the old partner pages. All that customization was a hell of a thing for an artist. I remember being so happy to finally be able to do it.

In a way I also kind of miss YT before people began making millions of dollars off of it. Core of it has really changed.

And damn the algorithm change, most painful one of all for my content. I had a much better time posting animation back in 2010-2011.

I liked the fact that you could actually make a custom page for your channel, not only banner and avatar like now (if you know what I mean).
 
Back on the old YouTube I always, always envied people who were able to get a banner, now everyone has a banner, it's cool and it looks 'tidy' but I really miss the backgrounds that you could customise!
