What happens when its time to stop?

I've Got It
I've always wondered what people do when its time to stop making videos. Do they just announce it or do they just slowly let it go? And honestly what happens after youtubers pass? Do their friends and family do a Life Review type of thing or do they just let it all go? I know kingsley announced it at the begining of the year but then also CMaddoxb*tch sadly passed at a young age and I didn't hear anything for a few days until I went on the fundraising site.

Most tubers would announce it, though some just let it go. Some delete their channels, some keep them up. As for passing away... I have no idea.

I think it really depends on what kind of channel the YouTuber has. If it were a type of channel where subscribers were expecting new content regularly, than I'd definitely expect some sort of announcement. However, if it were just an occasional uploader who did a lot of unrelated videos, who relied more on search instead of subscribers for traffic, it'd be ok for them to just stop.

I think I'm gonna make a "If you're watching this, I'm dead" video and schedule it for a year in the future. If I haven't died by then, I'll reschedule it a year out again without it becoming public. Then, if I die, it'll automatically upload when I'm not alive to reschedule it out again.

Genius.
This will work.

If I was to die my partner would come on here letting everyone know and I would want her to take over the site for me or if my son is old enough him and if that wasnt feasible I would want them to sell it to someone who would be able to run it well and take care of it properly. I would want my videos just left as they are, it wont matter if theyre up or not really but they would be there to viewed by whoever comes across them, having someone take over the channel would be good :D

I announced it on here and twitter that I had finally decided to take a "Long Break" from YT once my financial situation became extremely dire recently. I am completely screwed money wise right now with very little income so almost all of my time is in finding a real job. I will hear something from the bank I got interviewed by in a couple days. If I get that job i will come back. If not, i'll just have to keep looking, until then my 80 videos aren't going anywhere and nobody is watching anyway. Maybe 200-300 views a day max so.

Well this thread is kinda... Depressing.

I think I'd want to just keep everything up, and slowly let it slip away until everything is irrelevant.

Now, if someone gets a hold of my login information book, then we're all gonna be screwed and my brothers will vandalize everything.

Yeah, well I've always wondered. Like Tyler Oakley, what happens when he's 40 and married? Will he keep going even past 30?

I think with some YouTubers it kind of depends on a number of factors like sub count, content matter and the collective dedication of the audience. From what I noticed smaller channels (less than 100K subs) have less of a rabid following so they can get away with not posting videos if they decide to step away from YouTube. With larger channels that used to post regularly and have a large audience like over several hundred thousand subs and beyond they tend to get loads of hate but I guess that depends on whether or not they give an actual reason for posting less and less videos. Woodysgamertag is a perfect example of that. His fans still remember him saying that he would not stop posting regularly unless he was absolutely through with YouTube and since last summer he hasn't posted like he used to. I think he feels an obligation to post because a lot of the time he only posts week to week one video and thats the Podcast he does which his audience expects and demands that happen.

In the YouTube gaming community there has been very few deaths and what happens to their channels afterwords is that they usually remain online I guess for the fans to continue to watch their videos. I've yet to see a video released posthumously that a YouTuber has made in case something unexpected happen to them. I don't think anyone really plans on dying ;~;
