What got you into making YouTube videos?

i started making videos because i had been watching fashion/beauty gurus on youtube for years and i have always loved fashion and makeup and i felt like i wanted to share my style with the world, and what better way to do that than with my own youtube videos.
 
Looking at big and small gaming channels just doing what they love and sharing it with people. I want to do that too.

Was that the gathering organised by TomSka? I heard about it and really wanted to go but wasn't in England at the time.
I see from your YouTube channel that you go to the University of Lincoln - I went there! (2007 - 2010). Loved it! :)[DOUBLEPOST=1345654799,1345654684][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh, and I started making videos randomly. Just one day I picked up a camera to record my hamster running in her ball. Then, like a year later, recorded my other pets. Then events. Kinda spiralled into a huge range of video topics and styles.
 
A long time ago, I started watching some Youtubers doing Let's Plays, and I felt like I could make similar quality videos. I never had a computer capable of recording/playing, though, so I never bothered. About a month ago, I upgraded my computer probably a week after a friend of mine started getting into Youtube, which spurred me to start doing the same thing.
 
A couple of my friends and I just watched a mychonny video and decided to make some of our own.

basicly i wanted a RC helicopter once, and i saw videos in perticuler from someone called 88timj88 wich made me want it evan more and want to make videos :)
 
I found the Vlogbrothers in 2007 and when all the collab channels started popping up, I realized that I too wanted to make new friends via this new medium. It's exciting and strange and unique. Most people from where I'm from will not understand but I just love the thought of making new friends.

I'm not totally shy or awkward but I can be true-er to myself when I'm on YouTube.
 
For most of my life I decided I wanted to be a filmmaker, it wasn't until back at the end of 2006 when my brother showed me a YouTube video, that i started thinking about actually doing it, I started watching other peoples videos then ended up getting a camera for my birthday, I bought a Visual Effects software and from there just started making things, it's like 5-6 years later and YouTube has taught me a lot of what I know and has been my constant motivation and inspiration for creating videos! On Saturday I move to London to Study Filmmaking at University! YouTube is pretty much one of the main reasons for this! :D
 
I think it was seeing a variety of filmmakers that spurred me into making short films on YouTube. I liked how people could share their work, communicate with each other who share the same passion and it's like a 'cinema', but for free
