what do you think of this technique for recording commentary and gameplay

I'am a pc gamer, so I use either Fraps (which I hate doing since it lags the crap out of me) or XSplit (since I can actually do my cam/record at the same time.)

Fraps on a PC is definitely the way to go. I your pc can handle it youre set. But then again, if you want a facecam, Xsplit is a good way to do it.

Yea, I mostly use xsplit on my arcade series that I do with the face cam and some of the indie horror games. As far as my Let's Plays (long series) I don't use facecam on them except when I accidentally left it on during one of my Resident Evil Episodes lol. Which I don't care, but I wasn't ready for.
