What Do You Prefer? SERIES VS. SINGLE

I've Got It
What do you guys prefer for games on YouTube channels? Do you prefer series games, such as Outlast, Walking Dead, and Watch Dogs OR Single Games, by which I mean a random game someone plays once, for example Surgeon Simulator and Catlateral Damage.

All comments and responses are much appreciated! :D

I would say just do all and any if you're interested in it. Your fans will watch regardless if it's a comical short or a long drawn out deep series.

If you're wondering for my personal preference? I like the walking dead telltale game series, but I don't like watching people play it because I want to make my own decisions. Games like outlast are linear so watching someone else based on just their reactions is enough same thing for watch dogs people will watch for your experience. Single games are great for short change ups of comical segments.

Summary: If the game requires specific decisions that affect the story I'd prefer not to watch it because I would like to make them myself.

I've heard both. Personally, I can only watch a series if it's somebody who's well-established, or that I know. If I wanted to watch Wind Waker and came across a random channel with only 20 subs that did it, I probably wouldn't watch. But if one of my subscriptions/friends decides to do it, or I see a channel with 10,000+ subs, I'd probably go for it. However, if it's a single video, then I usually am much more open, and will just watch a variety of people do it.

The basic point is, your subs will watch a full series, but unless you're established, single videos are probably the best way to attract new people.

Just wondering, what would make you, for instance, drawn to a video with a low amount of subs? In the hundreds perhaps.

Usually short time lengths, short series/no series at all. And organization (nice thumbnails, good quality). If a channel is small, I'll usually judge it based on its looks, and how long the video is. If I don't know you, I probably won't watch a 20 minute video right off the bat. I usually prefer no series or shorter ones, but if you do have long ones, the episodes should be short. Having a 30 episode series where the episodes are all 16-20 minutes is intimidating. But this is just me, but from what I've seen on my LP channel, it seems most people feel the same way.

I agree with the above comment! I think for smaller channels, it's good to have short videos that get attention right away. I subscribe to a lot of gaming channels that had fast jump cut videos that got me to subscribe really fast. Usually they were really funny, too.

I think series will work better for you once you are well established, because at that point people know whether or not they like your videos. I know I personally put lets plays in a playlist and listen to them in the background while doing something else, this only really works if you plan on doing voice over during the video as well though.

If you're doing LP type stuff, series' would definitely be better, but if you do what I do, which is commentary, then single videos are generally good per topic, although of course there are exceptions in both cases. Hope I helped.
