The Game Traveler
Hey there YTTalk! My name is Sir_Reyz, and I am a fellow YouTuber trying to have fun and entertain the masses of the internet.

I've been in an argument with myself (I'm not crazy, I swear) for about an hour now clashing between three different mindsets. I'm trying to decide the best video length for my videos.

Currently at the moment, I am doing two lets plays of Undertale and Minecraft, which both require longer videos (from 20 minutes and like my last Undertale video, 35 minutes). But I've had the feeling that I should be making shorter videos playing random games (Like anywhere from 5-10 minute videos).

I guess what I'm trying to get to is this. When watching YouTube videos as viewers and not as YouTubers, do you enjoy watching shorter videos, a Mix of long and short videos, or longer 30 minute video? And as YouTubers, do you know of any advantages of short, long, and mix videos? Let me know down in the posts!

Thank you guys for the help ahead of time, and I hope that y'all have a great day!

When it comes to long videos I like them to be at least an hour so I can do something else with it on. Otherwise, 15 minutes is normally the most I'd watch when it's just to watch a video.

I think it depends on your personality. I enjoy short and long videos but it depends if the person keeps me entertained. So if you think you can keep people happy for long periods go for longer videos. If you can't then go for more shorter videos :)

Yeah I enjoy a mix of videos from 15 min to 2-3 hours long. I really tend to like streaming more and more nowadays and have been thinking about implementing it myself. Would be a lot easier to knock out the larger games, you can interact with your audience, and you don't have to edit as much.

But yeah if I'm watching videos for enjoyment I tend to like the longer length ones~

I think it all just depends on how entertaining the person in the video is, and of course what the video is about. I like short videos focusing on funny moments but I also enjoy longer videos (20-30min) like when it's a walkthrough of a game or it's some kind of discussion.

On my channel I used to always to 30 min videos because I was never able to cut them down much shorter without reducing the story of the game I was playing but I've gotten better at it reduced my time to 20 minutes at most because, honestly, a lot of people's attention span is really freaking short so it'll be a miracle if they can even watch that.

Also I did that because I'm trying to change my style and to work on doing gateway videos, especially for people who are first checking out my channel and don't know if they want to subscribe or not.

it would depends on if its interesting or not. of course if its not well done, then i don't want to watch it at all. but anything between 10-20 is my choice as the TRT of a half hour show is usually 22-24 minutes. a lot of people can't seem to go that long, but if you can tell a story in 10 minutes thats great! I would dislike a very engaging video to end abruptly

Good thoughts, I appreciate it y'all! Would quote everyone's posts and say what i think of them, but they are all pretty much saying semi-similar things, so i appreciate it. :D

I have a very short attention span, and if I want to watch something longer, I'll go on Netflix or Amazon. YouTube, for me, is where I go for shorter videos. If I see a 20 minute video or longer, it will take a lot of convincing to make me want to sit through it.
