What do you do when editing?

I also use imovie to edit. What everyone else use?

Nothing wrong with that.

I use a combination of Corel Video Studio Pro x7 and Vegas Pro 13. If you like iMovie then you should probably check out the Corel package as it's got plenty of really good features if you were looking to go a bit more advanced. There's a trial version on their website.

Thanks :bounce::pompus::snaphappy:

I use Sony Vegas Pro to edit! I don't know all the advanced features and all that jazz but I really do like the interface.

It's a good bit of software but you do end up googling how to do a large portion the advanced tasks as some features are pretty well hidden.

Yeah. It's pretty complicated. What's more is that, for me, the render times are ridiculously long. That's why I only use it for my intro sequences (which I've stopped doing btw...)

I use Camtasia Studio 8.1 right now for my videos. Very user-friendly. All I do is put in my intro, put commentary over the actual video (making sure it's louder than the game audio), enhance it with Audacity, then edit in the outro card with 2 more related videos in it. Editing time usually only takes about 30-40 minutes and half that time to render, which I'm very okay with.

The only problem I do have though with the program is that the preview screen is insane laggy, especially with lots of stuff in the multiple tracks. Anybody have a fix for that?

I think this has happened to me before. I believe if you let it play all the way through once (while its being all laggy) and then you start it back at the beginning then it will be normal ._.?

Hmm...I might try that out when I start making more videos tomorrow. Thanks for the advice! :cheerbeer:

I'm not a vlogger or anything, I make travelling/snowboarding/that-kind-of-stuff edits. What I do:
  • Organize all files; name them, select specific parts of videos, put them in folders
  • Get an idea of how long the edit is going to be, what kind of footage I have and use that to choose music
  • Edit files
  • Add logos, letterboxes, filmburns, that kind of stuff
  • Color correcting/color grading, sharpening and adding a vignette
Something along those lines.
