what did I do wrong

i have looked at keywords, promoted on social networks , submitted to external site but my traffic has really dropped off - what could I do to improve the family friendly video


 
The title is what ****** it - try to make a more eye catching title. Length does bring your video up in the search feed, but sometimes a shorter, snappier title can really pique the interest of potential viewers :thumbsup2:

I think you should be more active in forums and community like here in YTtalk! And I saw a thread in this site about promoting your channel by using omegle. I think that's quiet a good idea because if they like your videos they will be real viewers and subscribers. And real subscribers will be more likely to share your videos.
 
I agree with both of the above posters, but also, (and remember that this is just my opinion) I didn't find the video entertaining or funny. It wasn't informative, amusing or really that obscure - that is what generates most views on YouTube. As well as improving your titles for example, I would focus on actually getting better content and having good ideas. It is better to upload one really good video a month, than 2 or 3 rubbish videos a week!

I hope you do well and your YouTube career is successful though!
 
And don't forget, sometimes you make a video and it might actually pick up views and subs later.
Could be a week, a month or even half a year. Yet if you are desperate for social engagement you can also do a Facebook ad campaign. :P
 
You're problem is you tried to game the system by labeling it as a review only for the video to have nothing to do with a review, viewers aren't stupid (for the most part), they usually click on a video based on titles & thumbnails because it's meant to show what they'll get, if they get something different it doesn't go well.
 
You need more humor or some kind of story for people to follow. People tend to watch videos that are funny or entertaining and that requires more than just good editing. People need to gravitate to someone or something on screen and i did not feel like you gave anything to really focus on in that way.

How do you figure? I'm not being snarky, genuinely curious. I always figured short videos were the way to go in terms of viral success? In fact, most of the feedback I received when I was starting out was "Make your videos less than 3 minutes". I prefer long-form content so I've resisted thus far, but I thought it was commonly accepted that shorter videos do well for all the ADD addled kids out there. I'd love to hear your thoughts on why not...

As a general rule, yes, shorter videos tend to get shared. However, from my experience, videos that are embed on websites or shared on social sites tend to have very poor monetization rates. I see that you are looking to provide short clips that go viral. The amount of people who subscribe from those videos is negligible. YouTube is all about 'watch time'. How long can you keep people on YouTube watching videos. That's how you improve your chances for your videos to appear as a recommended video on YouTube.
