What characteristics make a good video?

I Love YTtalk
I think it helps if it's funny. That keeps the viewer's attention. Also if it's not too long, maybe 2-3 minutes max for a skit, 5-6 for a vlogging type video. People on Youtube have short attention spans. Good editing can make or break a video. If it has sloppy cuts and music that's turned up too loud, it will be annoying to watch. What do you guys think makes a good video?

I'd say in any video you want to make be happy and somewhat weird (but don't go to far with it), like make jokes and laugh some, but again don't overdue it. Also if you have a facecam (such as gaming, but if your vlogging I'm gonna guess you'll always have a facecam) be sure to include the "Crowd", like talk to the camera as if you were talking to someone, not a ton just like say something to the camera and the person watching will feel like you are talking directly to them (again this mainly goes along with facecam on gaming where you attention isn't completely on the camera)

I hope this helps in some way :)

When a cat does some cute thing. Or when some baby does some kind of baby stuff to another baby. Or when some huge record industry company spends a gagillion dollars on some crazy opulent high end production and then buys a few million views to go along with it. Those all are by far the best.

In my opinion, what makes a good video comes down to a few aspect. The first is obviously the visual side of things. Depending on the style of video it should, at the very least, be competently shoot and or edited. The second is the topic and focus of the video. Something interesting to the video creator is always a good idea and when the entirety of the video is consistent makes it that much better.

I prefer mature narration. Funny or not, it doesn't matter to me, but I don't want to hear childish crap that only the creator finds funny.

I also like if they stay on topic, and know what they are talking about. Not a lot of ums and uhs.

Decent editing and consistent volume of audio as well. Doesn't have to be directed by Spielberg, but some effort is required.
