What capture cards does everyone use?

The Hauppage HD-PVR Gaming Edition Two, it outstands all other capture cards and has perfect crisp quality.
I've got friends with the roxio pro (Newest one) and other capture cards, I played all of their game captures on a 32in flat-screen at full 1080p and it looked degraded & pixelated. While all of my footage played at 1080p on my 32in screen it looks as if I were playing it live from the console. I also hooked it up to my flat-screen in the living room (big ole 55in) and sat on the couch, perfectly clear footage. My friends footage on the other hand was not looking so good, maybe the equivalent of 480p quality or 720p.

PROS:
  • HDMI
  • Pass Through
  • No Lag
  • Record Button (No bother with a computer)
  • Light ring to indicate (Recording, standby, not connected, etc)
  • Sleek design
  • Comes with EVERY cable you need
  • Recording software is very nice
  • Compression is fantastic
  • Good for live-streaming
CONS:
  • Gets warm after extended use
  • Takes 30 seconds (if software is not up) from pressing the button till it records
  • 4 second delay (feed on your computer screen)

I think you mis-understood what I said.

There is absolutely no delay from the console to the pvr to the tv; although, there is a 4 second delay from the console to the pvr to the computer. This is because it has to have time to process and get the 100% best quality you can get from it. Any MLG player would play in a tourny with a PVR as there is no delay at all.

sorry for misunderstanding but what I really meant is output to the computer 'cause I'm using avermedia and playing/recording console games in my desktop without delay. I'm just glad there's an info about that delay :D

Yeah, the pvr takes my 1920x1080p video and compresses it in the same quality as seen on the screen as it happens so that 4 second delay is definitely expected.

I personally use a Hauppage PVR 2 Gaming Edition. Very impressive. I record in 720p, as for a PS3 you need to use a Composite cable, which only supports upto 1080i, but 720p is still decent quality. Being a Mac User, I was disappointed that the software provided didn't support Mac, so I had to purchase some special software for $30 (£20). Enjoy using it. Very simple. You can also use it to record your Mac/PC.

You know with the HDPVR GAMINGEDITION 1 you couldn't record in HD, now with the v2 you can. So the quality is perfection in my eyes.
lies. You could record in 1080i.. but you needed to use component cables.

I have a HDPVR 2 Gaming Edition, wish I got an Elgato Game Capture HD though :/
