I use primarily just the audio with movie maker and legato sometimes, but I would like to know a really good audio recording software

Adobe Audition is in my personal opinion, but if you're a beginner then it can be really hard to use. I would agree with PaulM and go Audacity. It's easy, free and everyone uses it!

I use Bandicam to record my video/audio to separate tracks, I then use Audacity to beef up my tracks, normally I would use logic pro but that is more for my music projects.
Audacity is great because it's free and very simple to use, for something like recording your voice it's all you really need :)
Good luck!

Audacity here. Noise removal function is great when you aren't in a sound proof room and it is easy to use and free. Watch a few tutorials on each suggestion though so you can see if you like the interface and ease of use. If someone has a menu bar open up, pause the video and look at what is there to determine what you can and can't do with a software. Personally, I only needed something to record, removal excess noise like small static or noise from the air conditioner. Audacity was the best choice.

I use Audacity personally, I have never really looked that much into other audio editing softwares, it gets the job done for me, I dont need to do that much in it too.

I would agree with most of the others i would just use Audacity its really good and gets the job done i havent had troubles with it and i have used it for a while now
