What are the top 10 language spoken by your audience?

So I was thinking over the weekend, what can I do to maximize traffic natively on YT?

I was surprised to learn that only 45.1% of traffic is to English speakers. I thought it would have been closer to 80%.

The other top 9 languages makes up 40.3%. Those language represent an untapped opportunity. Sure some of those people in those 9 countries speak English, but not everyone. How many people access and search YT in their native language and not English?

I would like to know, how many of you translate your title and description into other languages? Tags I believe cannot be translated from the Creator Studio interface, ad I guess that's why some channels use foreign language tags as their main tags.

Is there anything else you do to target foreign audiences? Perhaps setup an Adwords campaign for foreign lands?

My family is multi language and we try to raise the kids in 3 languages at home (Dutch, Russian and English). We're thinking about making a Russian channel in the future as well (they are mother tongue fluent in Russian and Dutch and have an okay understanding of English). I experimented a little with Cyrillic text in my tags but to no success. But as my channel is very tiny still with little authority, it might be because of that. I did notice in my search hits some Spanish search results and after that I included some Spanish tags on some video's as well. It does seems to boost it a little but the tag space becomes really small due to it if you want them in English and one or two other languages.

Edit: the reason why I started with no spoken language is to target all non-English speaking countries as well. But doing some research with some kids I found out that they don't care much about language when they are small. E.g. my neighbors son will happily watch a Russian cartoon with my kids. We're now in Spain on holiday and now my kids watch some Spanish cartoons as well

Hmm I guess its to be expected since I don't have any of my videos translated. I just provide CC on all my videos which are all in English as well.

But I've seen 1 or 2 of my videos got shared in an English learning site because I provided accurate CC for the videos. So that's that.

That's interesting. Good to see another channel's language traffic. I see Arabic is 1.4% for you, but it's 12.4% for us, which is quite high, not sure why that would be.

I just started translating on the weekend, so it's not enough time to influence the results. This is my traffic before the translating.

I find the translation process very tiring after doing everything but still do it. Can't say I noticed any great benefit besides everyone asking me if I am from their country or why the descriptions are so bad (I used google translate - don't do it!). I ended up finding 10 different people who spoke a foreign language and english and had them translate a basic overview description for my channel to make the process a bit faster and accurate each video (Copy Paste).

Most people that watch my stuff from other countries speak both languages. I find that there is always a similar model of each channel in different countries that viewers will concentrate on for their language but that is just me!

I've definitely seen channels using multi-lingual tags. I think I tired it once or twice a long time ago but nothing happened. You're right about kids not caring at all about language, they just binge watch whatever is up next. It does depend on the audience age though, the older they get the more they want to understand.

So what I do is keep 1-2 paragraphs of my main description,, which I know will be bad quality, and the rest are just phrases and tags, that hopefully will get translated more accurately and hit any search terms in the foreign language.

Yeah I seen the prices of translations available and decided to give it a miss. If you have alot of commenters on your video go in and find people (just search the comments for different countries. ppl will say, greetings from spain, france etc.) then contact them and most people are more than keen to help with a translation
