I'm happy to see all the feedback you've gotten from people a couple useful sites there! I've found that social networking is really useful, and for me, especially twitter! I like following people who follow channels similar to mine or follow fellow tubers and when they follow back you have people to "advertise" your channel to. Idk that's just one idea and it's worked pretty well for me. Of course utilizing a bunch of sites at once is the best way!
Well, I am in a community based online, but it's kinda smallish, and really active. A whole bunch of us make videos and share them, but we post all kinds of cool stuff we find online. So most of my first subs came from their, because it was like sharing with friends.
In my analytics I've seen my videos get views by being embedded by other people on a few sites. Some of these are rawsucker.com, facepunch.com, and funnyjunk.com. I tend to post videos that are relevant to any forums because I once posted something "not funny" on funnyjunk and got trolled for a few days. People don't like when people are promoting themselves, I've heard this from multiple people. I tend to stick to the dog and time lapse forums now so people will actually want to see my content.
