What are some ways to increase average watch time?

Thanks for the tips everyone. I plan on redoing my intro after my next 2 videos. Im doing a special series in October so I'll change it for that, something quick and interesting, I think that will help a lot.

I'm trying something new for this next video I'm finishing up for Thursday.
people always drop during the credits so, I'm making the credits more fluid and animated and then I've added some outtakes at the end after the credits so hopefully people will realise and watch all the way through. That way I can make sure more people see the voice actors and the musician that helped make it (that's the plan anyways)

Look at your retention graphs for each video. Look at the places where they're dropping off and find out why. There's almost always a connection between each video. Like some have stated, if you see a huge drop off during your intro, either cut your intro or not have an intro at all. If it's a gradual decline, then it's more so video engagement. Your viewers aren't finding your videos engaging enough to finish it through. If that's the case, it all relies on your content. Might it be that your content feels drawn out to them? Are there other things you can do to keep them engaged? Maybe ask a question? Or even yet, at the beginning of your video, you can have a timeline display of exciting portions of your videos where they can jump forward to see. You can even direct them to your description to click on link shortcuts (e.g "2:35 Fish jumps out of water!").

Just be more entertaining, more crazy and fun I guess, most of the viewers on YouTube are kids, you have to appeal to them, kids like hyper, crazy, and fun people.[DOUBLEPOST=1473712654,1473712276][/DOUBLEPOST]Just be more entertaining, more crazy and fun I guess, most of the viewers on YouTube are kids, you have to appeal to them, kids like hyper, crazy, and fun people.

I front load the video with the best stuff. The most entertaining parts. The less exciting stuff near the end or simply cut out. I try not to have a single unedited frame longer than 30 seconds. you can jump between cuts and zoom in on certain areas to turn a single boring recording a little more exciting.
