Were you nervous for your first vlog? How did you do it? Please share your experience.

Thank you so much to each and everyone of your who has replied to this thread. You guys are awesome. Now I feel more relaxed and comfortable. And I'm about to film for my first vlog. It will be up in Youtube tomorrow. Lets see how it goes.

I was actually more worried I was going to bother my roommate next door (college dorm). On the 2 hour drive to school I spoke to myself in my car because I wanted to get better at my awkward game commentary which I just started the day before that. I spoke to myself about why I wanted to make a youtube channel and where I wanted to go with it. I realized that I can make vlogs while at school so I could still work on my channel and practice.

My first few vlogs were the topics I talked to myself about in the car. I wasn't nervous about making a 'good' video because it's a vlog and it's about you. Editing makes the vlog a lot more bearable. Take out the tangents make cuts when you're thinking and make it as coherent as possible.

I've used a journal a couple of times in my life and I kinda spoke the way I would've written. Good luck an have fun!

I was extremely nervous! I decided to film a short vlog when we decided to go on a short island trip with my best friend and my cousin. I was so uncomfortable with filming myself in public! Thats why I didn't talk at all I just put some music behind.. Next time, hopefully I'll do better!

For my first vlog for this channel (had another channel 3 years ago), I was nervous. If I'm honest, I anticipated I'd waffle and I didn't want to bore the viewer, so I'd written out a plan/ script an practiced it. Was gonna set a time & place, but one pleasant evening, I decided to just whip out the camera phone and filmed myself by the window (it's the "Social Anxiety: My Troubles and Overcoming" vid on my channel).

Was a bit nervous and had to re-record when someone in the next garden caught me. But because I'd pre-planned it and because it was in a chilled setting, it was a nice calm "Start video, say what needs to be said, end video!" vibe. It turned out long but it was tight (In B4 "that's what she said".

After I did my vlog, people commented that I flowed well, considering it was a social anxiety video. Feel kinda guilty 'cos it wasn't "freestyling" so I set them straight. But I'm glad I got my points across. Whether you want to plan it or not is up to you: I think I need it personally as it keeps me focused. But if you're a natural at getting yourself accross, people usually that.

I was so nervous back in 2009; made a few creaky facecam vids - didn't do anymore after that. No vids till 2013, and then it's just my voice - that was all I could do to just get the confidence to talk! Appeared twice on-screen since, not so bad this time around. ;)

The way I see it, you cannot change how others see you, so don't worry about. You can only change your perception of yourself, people already see you in their way - and you can't change or control it.

I wasn't nervous at all really. The only thing I'm nervous about is the day that someone who knows me in real life will find it and starts spreading it around and the shitstorm that will follow.
