Were You disapointed?

I've Got It
After reading the latest Youtube thread, a question comes to mind. When you first decided to be a Youtube content creator or maybe just a content uploader, what were your expectations. Did the experience fare better or worse. Was the reality of this what you expected or were you surprised by annoying obstacles to your success.

I started Youtube as a convenient way to share video clips with a small circle of friends. It unexpectedly grew into a hobby which consistently challenges and rewards me. This is something I fell into, therefore my expectations of anything other than video hosting were almost non existent. With time, I became more engaged and with engagement my expectations grew. But, I don't think my expectations have ever truly been disappointed. If anything, they have been greatly exceeded. Not only do I have 165 videos uploaded, I have four websites and I intend to grow and expand beyond Youtube. If anything this experience has exceeded what were my wildest dreams when I uploaded my first video.

We had no expectations when we started we did it for fun and we still are doing it for fun. The fact that anyone watches us at all exceeds our expectations 10 fold.

I started a YouTube channel with my friend just for the fun of it and didn't expect to nearly 200 subs :D.
Whenever I go into things I don't expect things to get big and better so I don't get disappointed at things.

I actually never had any idea what would come of it, the world of Youtube was completely different to how I imagined it. It was actually my brother that pushed me into Youtube with our Minecraft videos over at 2aplays (used to be 2aminecraft), after I did those videos I just branched off onto my channel (although I still do make videos for 2aplays) and slowly learnt about all the stuff there is to know about Youtube. I started just doing it to please my brother, Now I love Youtube and never plan to leave it :D. I never thought anything about it whatsoever in the early days, no goals, ambitions or anything for Youtube.

I started making vids back in 2010 for fun. And hell, I enjoyed it a lot.
I started making gaming videos last summer with the expectations of getting big fast. (I know, I'm really stupid.) So yeah, I was disappointed.
So now I just don't care anymore about subs and such, I only want to have fun :P I wasn't expecting almost 60 subs in less than a month though, it's insane to me.

Honestly, I didn't expect anything when I uploaded my first video, but the possibility to reach 10,000 subscribers and 800,000 views in just a year and a half, especially with not that many video (35 at the moment) is simply beyond belief, not to mention the awesome following I have. My YouTube journey may have just started, but it has been amazing so far. :)

I don't remember how I started, the fact is that I expected Youtube to be different, and to reward the effort rather than the fact you have more overall views, so I'm one of the small ones that get suffocated by the big ones. I don't say I want to retire, but I think at this point making video is pretty pointless, if the only ones that get some audience are the ones I do in collaboration with a Facebook page, and that earn me only dead subscribers.

When i started YouTube it was just for fun. And actually it still is.
I make videos just because i like to do it and editing has become one of my favorite hobbies. Of course i would like to see my channel growing like everybody here on the forum but it was not my expectation to grow with 20 subs a month or so.

I kinda feel like this question is more for people that have less than 100 subs and don't have '20 subs a month' and such because they would have more reason to be disappointed.

I don't really know how I feel, it depends on the day. I do admit I feel disappointed sometimes since I wish my vids would get more views or at the very least lots of comments. Even the TMNT video listed below, I know that info is outdated now since we know more about the movie then when it was made, but I was expecting a lot of people commenting or arguing about the halloween costume and so forth.

But I guess I can't really complain and I'm glad people actually watch the vids and do occassionaly leave likes and comments. I just wish it was more. LOL

I started watching YouTube back in 2006, but I made a YouTube account in 2007 (I admittedly because there was a video I couldn't watch unless I was over 18.), but my content was so s****y I decided to make different channels until now. I had low(er) self esteem back then.
