Weird amount of views

Either someone shared the video who is popular or you put up a video that is coming at the top of the search results.

Check the analytics for that video in a few days, It will be updated then. You can then use analytics to see where the views are coming from. I wouldn't be worried about it since It's quite normal and It's happened to me just for a video getting recognition by getting shared from some random guy with a big following or it may just be a video that had higher demand in the YT search for that day.

The video is now at 2,638 views. Less than 3 days ago it was 66.

The thing that's making me think the views are fake is the fact that there are no likes or dislikes from these views, and no comments. I had likes and comments with the first 50 views. I've tried Googleing it, but my video doesn't even appear on page one, and I can't see any embedding on other sites.

When your video is embedded, the viewers tend to like/dislike on the website and comment over there. So it is still possible this is what happened.

Probably embedded somewhere. You'll be able to see where in about a day or two. Here's one of my best, I keep this as a trophy. This quickly moved up to my most viewed dog video within a couple days

Those graphs are very pretty, I haven't quite gotten to the stage where I will be keeping trophies but if I got one like this I would!

Were you able to determine what caused the spikes?

It was shared on a big website, then it got re-shared by a bunch of other dog and pet sites. You can see how when one site posted a bunch of other sites likely saw it and posted it on their own site.

OK, so some of you might be sick of hearing about the mystery 4k+ views I had on a video recently. Well, Google Analytics has just updated, and I see my video was shared on chinatimes.com. That site's gotta have some traffic! Can anyone translate? The text is probably just a general overview of the subject, rather than about the video itself.

Your video won't be taken down for bots. Only if it's major. Your views will either get fixed, or they're legit and you just got lucky with your SEO or it was shared. Don't worry about it, it's a good thing, either way :)
