Webcams Vs Camcorders vs DSLRs

It's not because they weren't designed to be used for video that they aren't great at it :p

OP, investing all that cash is silly, stick with the webcam :p
I want something for mobility. A webcam doesn't and will never be able to move around with me.

Well for basic photography get a Canon T3i best entry level DSLR out right now if you prefer canon over nikon, then intermidete like 7D or T5i, then kinda pro 70D and 6D if you count the new 7D mk ii, the the beasts. Canon 5D mk iii with 24-70mm L series lens mk ii.

Nah it's Canon for video, Nikon for photo in the entry line stuff. I'll be back from a lecture in a bit and I'll try and dig out the name of some cheap camera I found that was pretty good..

If you can afford it go full frame censor , you will get wider shots (on the same lens) as you would on a crop chip (APS-C or Micro 4/3), plus a full frame chip bigger and therefor more light can reach it making them better in low light. I would say that is the first thing to look for in a DSLR as Darkening an image is easy (filters, higher shutter speed, closing iris) But getting a bright image is hard and if done artificially (using Gain or editing on PC can introduce lots of noise)

Been doing some research, Looks like I will likely be skipping out on a DSLR for now :)

Reason being that they have a video recording time limit of 29 minutes! For the reason that they would be classified as a "video camera", which would result companies having to pay more in taxes per DSLR camera they make!

And it appears that at least in Cannon's case, there is a 4gb file size limit to each recording, because of its FAT32 system. Programs like magic lantern can push the camera to make more than one 4gb file, but it would still cap off at 29 minutes.

That's a deal breaker for this guy! Too much headache.

I use a Cannon T2i, and Use a 64gb class ten memory card and can get a couple hours from it.

I had the same issue but was told it was my memory card, and once i got a new one, it fixed the issue
