Webcam recording software

Hi I've searched several pages and haven't really come across anything so if you guys could help me out I'd be extremely grateful. I'm looking for free quality webcam recording software for windows that will allow me to use a different microphone rather than the one attached to my webcam.

Most webcams comes with their own software.

If you don't have it try OBS. It's a free screen recorder that can capture your webcam.

I have a Microsoft life cam, and the software with it is great don't get me wrong but it doesn't allow me to use a separate mic and I really don't feel like letting this Blue mic sit around as an expensive paperweight anymore :/ I shall try your suggestion though, Thanks!

You can definitely use your Blu mic and mute the webcam on OBS.

If you need help to set it up let me know.
 
I have the same cam and the software is TERRIBLE. I'm going to make sure my next cam is a Logitech. I used Windows Movie Maker (WMM) along with Audacity; WMM for the webcam and Audacity to catch your voice. So far, it's doing me well in making videos. The only downside to WMM is that if you record your cam for more than an hour, it will cut the video at exactly 1 hour and 1 mins (Which can be frustrating if you forget how long you were recording).
