voice sounds weird.....?

so when you guys first started recording yourself, did you find your own voice and looks weird? I sure am and still think that way ha ha. I know I had a speech problem when I was younger due to how my tongue moves and stuff

and I still think I sounds...dumb lmao well in comparison to other people on youtube

am I the only one?
 
Holy crap yeah. People told me I sounded normal but the first time you hear yourself on microphone it sounds so different.

I did find that when I got a better mic it sounded "more" like me. Obviously still nothing like what you hear in your head though.
 
You are not the only one at all. I started my first channel a few years ago and even now I still sound so weird compared to what I thought I sounded like. Eventually you just kinda get used to it especially while editing since you have to hear yourself over and over again.
 
Yeah, your recorded voice will never sound the way you hear it in your head. But mic choice and placement will still make a big difference so play around with that.
 
Yea.. I thought I had a cool deep-ish female voice like one of those ladies on an infomercial, but then I heard it and was like "omg I sound like a squeaky nerd!" xD I think the voice we hear when we talk seems lower than what the rest of the world hears, so when we hear our voice "for real" for the first time a "chipmunk effect" happens.. :p I've learned that there are different registers we can use that alter the pitch of our voice, and that I actually can speak with a better-sounding (lower) voice. But I have to think too much to have a nice speaking voice, so I just left it the way it is.
 
Definitly tales some time getting used to seeing and hearing everything on video! Promise you will get used to the idea and feel great in your own skin very soon
 
You're not the only one. hated how my voice sounded while recording but after a couple of videos i eventually got used to it and now i don't think its all that bad :)
 
LOL! This was what I felt when I first tried to record my voice a few years back. Still sounds weird to me even after a long time.
 
I only speak in english in my video's I refuse to do it in my own language because I cringe when I hear my voice in dutch it soooo squeaky!! I noticed in my very first video's that my actual expressions are very bland almost non existing so I really worked on being more charismatic in the camera and I think it made my vids allot better over time!

I am sure you speak wonderful Dutch. As I said above sometimes it just takes some time getting used to your own voice.
