Voice overs and on screen appearance

Hi Guys :wavespin:

So at current my videos are I fear glorified slideshows but this is all changing next week under my new structure for my channel.

I was just wondering 2 things really.

1.) How much impact do you think a voiceover would have? and would you be more inclined to watch the video if it had a voiceover?

and

2.) Do you think I should be at the beginning and end of the video in person?

and a cheeky no.3.)

Weird I know but do you think my voice would suit the type of voiceover? (in all fairness that only goes to anyone who's seen my channel announcement as that's the only video I speak in lol
 
voice overs are based on how well they are done, try it out and find out for yourself
 
If you mean, would your audience prefer to read text overlays in your "slideshows" or if they'd like a voiceover - I think voiceover would be better.

Yeah at the moment I do fact based videos and essentially its pictures with text but now I have slightly better audio equipment so was going to start voiceovers. I have a feeling at the very least audience retention will improve

I think that the voiceovers will help a lot then. But make sure to do it yourself and be genuine. People hunting for the facts you present may get turned off by someone affecting a weird voice.

Voiceovers will definitely work in your favour. I find that videos with them are much more engaging than videos with only pictures and text. Appearing in the video itself is entirely up to you, however, you want to make sure it is in context with the video. If it's not necessary, then there is no need unless you are portraying a certain "character", or you want to become more known to your audience (this can be a really good thing). If you are going to do voiceover, I would suggest getting a decent digital recorder or mic to use so that your audio is clean. There is free software available to clean up audio, however, it is very limited and usually doesn't have anywhere near the quality you want for professional sounding audio. You don't want an annoying hum or buzz in your voiceover. It's very distracting, and can turn your audience off. Anyway, I'm rambling....

Haha I love a good ramble myself too lol yeah I agree with you totally and with regards to appearing on the video I feel that people like to form some form of attatchment to a person so thats why I was considering maybe as an intro/outro thing
