Vlogging

A vlog can mean "on the go type of video" or a video of you talking being the main focus of the video. The prior doesn't have a script and the latter sometimes does. I found that when I wrote a script, the quality of the video lowered, although when I didn't write one, I'd say a joke and then stare off into space until I could come up with something else.

Whenever I film, I wing it. I just choose a topic to talk about and go blabber on about it but try to make it entertaining at the same time. and I like jumpcuts, but its my personal preference

That's not really a vlog... A vBlog is more you doing your daily life and filming it. More like The Shay Tards or iJustine's "Other channel" ;)
Sorry, gonna have to go with the majority here and say a vlog is a "video blog" and isn't restricted to just carrying a camera around with you during the day. Just like you might blog about cars, or fashion, or your day, or your opinions on popular topics, a vlog can be about anything. For example, I consider my channel to be a vlogging channel and I rarely make videos just about "how my day went."

Back on topic... I think whether you script your vlogs depends totally on preference. I've done bullet point lists, scripts, and totally unscripted videos and I've found that bullet point lists work best for me. I write out the points I want to talk about and then I elaborate on each one while I'm recording.

No i didn't say it was just you recording yourself. i said it's recording yourself in front of a video camera. Which is literally the definition of vlog "a video blog"
Hmm... It's not you recording yourself... It's you recording your self with you in front of the camera... *ponders*

Any video is just you recording yourself. However a vlog is you recording yourself in front of a video camera.

Totally agree

I sometimes script things out, then read the script, just to myself, then abandon the script entirely and record ramblings as they happen.
I think writing and reading the script helps me to prioritize all that I want to say, but I don't sound very good reading from a script.[DOUBLEPOST=1388912710,1388912619][/DOUBLEPOST]and yeah, vlog=video blog.
not all blogs are online diaries, neither are all vlogs.

Ah, that's what I just wanted to write so I sign it!

There are personal blogs, tech blogs, music blogs and so on. Some evolve into something that resembles news sites but I'd say the general idea is to share or add your opinion and thoughts. E.g. if a blogger would just re-post press releases I would not see it as a blog anymore.

But to add to the topic, I'd say bullet points are great for vlogs. Even if they just help you to streamline the video more.
