Vlogging in public - legal in shops?

I guess it depends what country you are in up to a point, South Korea may take a dim view on it
From a legal perspective (talking as somebody who has absolutely NO EXPERIENCE WHATSOEVER on the subject) I would think that the issue would be your intent to publish the content of your video. As markkaz stated, people have a right to privacy - although having said that the world's paparazzi don't seem to be held back by this.

But yeah, Probably what everyone else has said.. If you're too awkward to ask (well, You cant be.. You're going to vlog in PUBLIC!) just try to be as sneaky as possible! OR record when you know nobody is around/looking.. Or at least, No staff members! Also, As long as the shop isn't displayed badly or if you just keep the name secret... Or something...
To be safe, ask, if you don't want too, don't.. Be a ninja.

I figure that it's probably illegal since it is private property, but I'm sure in most cases no one would mind. If you get asked to stop just tell them you are vlogging, but if they are insistent on it be respectful and stop. Either way I don't think it would be an issue very often.

I guess it's fair to say that they'll probably not going to arrest you if you play nice with them but they legally can ask you to leave the premises if they spot you. Happened to me many years ago even outside a shopping mall. When we (more or less unknowingly) filmed something outside but already on ground that belonged to the mall. Security came to us and said we can't film here....but 3 meters more to the left. LOL.

I would also be very careful if the store plays music...chances are they have public radio on and normally anything on it would be copyrighted, thus potential ContentID on your video.

I do ask permission before hand, just to be polite; especially if I'm genuinely curious about the shop, and want to know details to include. At the same time, it depends how long you're vlogging for; when I'm shooting a series of brief 10 second shots, I don't bother.
Along the lines of what mercmonster said, if your filming is going to be blatant, then it may be better to ask ahead of time.
