Do vlogs becuase i do gaming already! Hehe... To be honest you should go with what your heart says you to go with, doing things that are displeasing for you will end up with a thread on YTTAlk for how to motivate yourself to make new content :) Good luck.
I do like gaming but I don't exactly stand out from the average gamer like PewDiePie or SkyDoesMinecraft for example (just to name a few). Lots of gaming channels so kind of hard to start one and gain recognition. As for my vlog idea, I've never done a vlog before and my idea for it is using my second language, Vietnamese. Unique from what I've seen on YouTube buy just kind of lack the courage to do it.[DOUBLEPOST=1412793780,1412793684][/DOUBLEPOST]
You have PS+ right (requirement for PS4 online gameplay) - given that you've had it for a while and grabbed all the games from there, you should already have something, right? I now the PS4 collection is quite limited, compared to PS3 and Vita, but should still be something.

Also if you have PC that's capable to even some sort of gameplay and recording, just grab some free/cheap games off of Steam/HumbleBundle/IndieGala/etc. and do videos of those.
Lol my games are quite limited. Basically, all I've got is Destiny, Minecraft, CoD Ghosts and I am fixing to borrow Shadows of Mordor. I'm one of those guys who can stick with a single video game for a long time and can be happy lol. That's why my selection is quite low. And I don't have a PC. Just a PS4[DOUBLEPOST=1412823409][/DOUBLEPOST]
No offense to any gamers here and this is just my opinion i personally think Vlog channels have more to offer and you can really give yourself a style and uniqueness to stand out which means more likely to success. Gaming channels are mostly all same with a lot of competitions i only understand if you do it completely 100% just for fun and you don't care if anyone watches your videos or no. Vloggers kinda have more options to be more entertaining and show things and entertain, become a public figure, have a fanbase. But as a vlogger you actually work a lot and have to have an interesting lifestyle and lots of ideas. Gamers can kinda chill out more.
I like the way you put this and I agree that there are a lot of competition out there. I do like the idea of doing a vlog, being unique, I just lack the courage to do it.

Do both? Don't limit yourself. It is after all your channel lol.
I know it is my channel, however, doing a gaming channel and a vlog where I speak in Vietnamese are totally different. It's like I promise my subscribers games, and end up speaking Vietnamese. Not a way to get subscribers so it really won't work.

You think so? I think that if you let em know from the get go, that you upload both they wouldn't be surprised and would want both.

They're two totally separate things, one being very non-mainstream stuff. You can't just go saying "Yeah here's some gaming videos and for the next week I'mma speak Vietnamese, just hang in there". Simply doesn't work. It's either two channels or nothing, and keeping up the schedules on two totally different niches requires a lot of work.

No Wastelander is right. These are two completely different things so two on one channel will not work. Period. However, Wastelander, I would prefer to do one channel which is why I can't decide between the two. If I could think of a way to be unique and not just some other gaming channel I might stick with it. If I had the courage to, I would do a vlog because my idea isn't a common one. I just don't know what to do.

A few people have already said, why not do both?
As a "vlogger" I would suggest to anyone that even has a slight inkling to do it to just give it a try, it's a lot of fun :)
And I'm also planning a gaming channel with a friend, so I'm kind of the opposite to you I guess haha
