So basically, I have a very small new gaming channel. My current game is Destiny and I've made a few videos. I enjoy gaming but there is a problem. My friends wanted to do a raid so I tried to help. Well, due to my crappy internet connection, I kept getting kicked to the point where I was completely disheartened and unwilling to continue. I looked back on my gaming channel and this constantly getting kicked kind of discouraged me to continue gaming (aside from the fact there are a million other gaming channels).

That being said, I had a separate idea that seems to be a pretty popular idea. Vlogging. I wondered if I should start a vlog. But not just any vlog. A vlog where I would practice and use my second language, Vietnamese. Now, I want your honest opinions as to what you think of this idea. Gaming? Vlogging? I could really use some help.

No offense to any gamers here and this is just my opinion i personally think Vlog channels have more to offer and you can really give yourself a style and uniqueness to stand out which means more likely to success. Gaming channels are mostly all same with a lot of competitions i only understand if you do it completely 100% just for fun and you don't care if anyone watches your videos or no. Vloggers kinda have more options to be more entertaining and show things and entertain, become a public figure, have a fanbase. But as a vlogger you actually work a lot and have to have an interesting lifestyle and lots of ideas. Gamers can kinda chill out more.

None taken, but I think your view of "gaming" and gaming channels is very, very limited :) Just because the grand majority sticks with COD and Minecraft doesn't mean that there's no artistic freedom in the gaming niche. You could also say that "Vloggers just whine about their life on camera, all the same" and that wouldn't really be the truth, now would it? Take a look at e.g., JonTron, TotalBiscuit and Angry Joe - all gamers, all totally different from each other.

Anyhow, I don't really see why someone would give up gaming just because they have been unsuccesfull in playing one, single game. And even that due to their crappy internet connection. There's gazillion of other types of games to play as well.

But in the end, nobody can tell you what you should be doing - you need to find that calling yourself. /zen

Why not both? Have both vlogging and gaming in your channel. It'll bring double the fanbase.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I have an indie game project and feature card games on my channel. It's the best of both worlds. I need to make new updates for my gaming project.

Couldn't agree with this more. But in the end it is your decision and you should ultimately do what makes you happiest!

There's always the Why Not Both answer. Some people will create a vlog and put it on the corner of their gameplay.

As for connection issue, Destiny is only one of thousands of games out there. Try out other games before giving up gameplay videos.

See I would agree with you and a lot of the people who responded but the only problem is that I was thinking about using my second language (Vietnamese) in my vlog. So I'm targeting gamers and Vietnamese and the two just don't really work together in my opinion. The only reason I chose Vietnamese is 1. Because not a lot of people do that 2. Because I need to practice speaking Vietnamese 3. And I have ties with some Vietnamese friends. I mean I like gaming I really do but the only game I got at the moment is Minecraft but we all know that has been beat to death. Next up on my PS4 supposedly is Shadows of Mordor however that won't be for months because my friend who will let me borrow it has already loaned it to other friends so I'm just on the waiting list.

You have PS+ right (requirement for PS4 online gameplay) - given that you've had it for a while and grabbed all the games from there, you should already have something, right? I now the PS4 collection is quite limited, compared to PS3 and Vita, but should still be something.

Also if you have PC that's capable to even some sort of gameplay and recording, just grab some free/cheap games off of Steam/HumbleBundle/IndieGala/etc. and do videos of those.

Do vlogs becuase i do gaming already! Hehe... To be honest you should go with what your heart says you to go with, doing things that are displeasing for you will end up with a thread on YTTAlk for how to motivate yourself to make new content :) Good luck.
