Views vs CPM

EVO

I Love YTtalk
Hi all

My views and CPM have been a bit of a rollacoaster this last few months but I have been paid around the same amount per month.

For example when CPM was high end of 2016 my views reduced.
January my views exploded but CPM was really poor.
February views have dropped again but CPM has massively increased.

Over these months I have been paid around the same so could this be a YT algorithm? To let us have the views that pay us our wage?

Or just coincedence?

Thanks

It's also based on how much advertisers are buying. So in December they're buying a lot and in January they aren't buying anything since Christmas has gone.

Thanks both but you didnt answered my question. I know that CPM is lower in Jan compared to Dec due to advertisers etc.

No that's just a coincidence.

Look at your traffic sources for reasons behind why your views fluctuated so much.

I agree, I think that's just coincidence. If anything, I think the opposite is slightly true, particularly for channels who have a well-defined niche - CPM / RPM rises when your daily views increase as advertisers often target the bigger channels to get their message out quickly.

Thanks both. I will re-evaluate in a few months time to see if the coincidences continue.

From what I understand:
> CPMs are high in December due to advertisements for Christmas. Many YouTubers do their best to cash in on this by doing Vlogmas and putting a lot of effort into producing as much content as possible in that period. There are more ads, but also more videos, so viewers are less likely to watch everything because there is more
> In January, CPMs drop as Christmas will have passed, so it is the best time to take a break from all the posting in December, meaning it is a good opportunity to be discovered, build communities and get more views, but CPMs will be lower :)

This coincidene is happening again?
My views are dropping (Nearly half) but CTR and RPM are both increasing (Nearly double) to level out revenue?
If only views stayed up whilst CTR and RPM increased.. Gots to be an Algo at play here?
