Views going up, but subscribers aren't

You may think you want my accent. You really don't
Every couple of days I like to count up my views out of curiosity, but also so I can update my signature. Every time I do this, I always have an increase of about 20-30 to my total number of views (even if I don't have a new video up) but I've been stuck at nearly 30 subscribers for about 2 weeks now.

What's the best way you find to hook people in and think "I want to subscribe to this person"? Because my content is getting views and likes, but no one is subscribing, which means that more often than not my view count isn't consistent across my videos

You need to give them a reason to subscribe :) Like, yada, yada, talking about this subject, yada, yada, tangent going towards another subject "..but hey, I will talk about that in my next video, so subscribe to be sure to know when it is out - now back to my first point.."

At least in some way tell them what they get out of subscribing ^^

I subscribe if they are interested in what I am interested in and share similar opinions, you can't read peoples minds you just have to hope that the right person watches your videos and agrees with stuff you do or say and subscribe, hence why people say YouTube is about luck.

Ive recently gained 13 subscribers, in the last month. Before that I didn't grow at all, I think the most important thing is to just do videos YOU want to do, not just videos you think your subs would like, the more comfortable and happy you are doing videos, the more people will enjoy them and get to know you as well, i always try and use humour in all my videos, so even if it seems like a boring subject, i am talking about I hopefully will still make someone laugh, so that they would still want to watch it knowing my personality. I also think uploading at least once a week and being a lot more active also helped with that, and joining this forum of course!

I also recently learnt how to do end title card, which is what most big youtubers do at the end of each video, that shows a clip of their previous video then you link to it in the annotations, some youtubers also do a random video and a previous video, but I just link to my previous video with a clip and music, then have a big subscribe next to it linking to my channel, I will not say my end title card is proffessional looking because it's not it's very basic, as I have only just learnt how to do it but it does it's job, and if someone enjoyed that video and reached the end, they may be tempted to watch the previous video too.

I also have a watermark at the bottom of each video, where if someone hover over it, it says how many subs I have, and then you can directly sub by clicking the subscribe button. No editing is involved in this, you can either use your current youtube profile picture like I have, or create a photo to use as a watermark, then go into your settings on youtube and find watermark, and add it, and youtube automatically adds it to all your previous videos, and the future ones you make. I find this really useful as I have had some people automatically sub to me by watching one or two videos then just using the watermark rather then going to my channel.

Try and end your videos asking people to subscribe, like and comment etc, and if possible tell them what kind of videos are coming up next for your channel, to try and entice them into subscribing for example I mention the fact I have a big freshers guide to series coming up where I will (try) to do videos all through freshers week as i live it (as a second year haha) giving people tips and tricks to get through first year and university, and do channel updates these can be just quick videos mentioning it or add it to the end of a video you have already done, if you are not going to be able to upload or something for a while, so your subscribers know whats going on, for example my latest video was also a channel update as I am busy moving back to uni, so had to tell people I may be a bit slow in uploading so not to unsub due to inactivity.

I am not a big youtuber by any means but this is what I do, and it has kinda worked so I hope some of this helps :) You don't need a great camera or equipment, sometimes just having a great personality and doing good videos are just as good as all these expensive well thought out videos big youtubers can do!

Just a thought here, you might be getting views but what is your audience retention? You might want to have a look at that. Check it for every video and see which one/s have the highest retention. If people are sticking around to finish the video/s it might be a good idea to make more like it /them. Though a subscribe call to action at the end is a good idea, it's useless if nobody makes it to the end. I really hope this helps even if just a little and I wish you much luck.

Hmm.. well my views always seem to drop off around the 1 minute mark, which means about 50% retention for some videos but then as low as 10% for others. Maybe a subtle "subscribe to me" around the 1 minute mark of a video like SEMilfred said would make a difference, such as saying something like "but more on that in my next video" would make a difference?

Do you see how your ratio is between views/subs...? Mine is around 160 views per 1 sub... How are you doing? What do you think? I mean.. You're doing great than I am in terms of the ratio. So... Yea..

Try this (may or may not work but it's worth a shot). Go to annotations (as to not add to your own view count) and watch the ones with a 50% retention. Try and determine what kept your audience interested to that point and what might have caused them to lose interest. Then try making videos accordingly. Just remember to also do what you enjoy and are interested in yourself. Otherwise, you lose the enjoyment of creating content. And you should really enjoy what you're doing. Just try to do it in a way/style that others enjoy watching. :)

I like the idea of the end title card, I use to just have images of previous videos I don't know how to insert video itself. I guess it depends on the software...what software do you use to make that>?

I've started doing a similar thing with mine, I use Lightworks and it has an effect called a DVE where you can have 2 layers of video and the DVE changes the size of the top layer :)
