Viewing subscriber count?

Does anyone know if hiding the subscriber count on your channel is beneficial for new, low subscribed channels? I was thinking it may be a deterrent for new people wanting to subscribe. Any advice? Thanks!
 
I wouldn't say it's a deterrent we have grown consistently since we started.

Granted we started with around 18 subscribers but keeping a public count neither deters or encourages people from what i've seen.
 
As far as I can tell it makes no difference in the amount of subscribers you can gain. To me it's nice to let people know where you're at as far as how many people are following you. And if the number is low they may or may not feel inclined to subscribe. But sadly there is no way to tell how often someone clicks on your channel or subscribes for those reasons.
