VidIQ Chrome App for YouTube

HigginsSamuel

I've Got It
Recently I found this Chrome Extension called VidIQ
and what it does is put a box next to every video you view on youtube with stats on fb likes, fb shares, tweets, likes etc.
I've found this to be very useful to find information quickly from my own videos but also others. Plus you can see what the tags are for every video, so if a video is doing well and you decide to do a similar video you could see what tags work.

type: "vidIQ vision for youtube" in the Chrome web store and find it under extensions to use it.

Moved this here for you, if you wish to post a guide which goes into more depth about using its various features/stats etc please post one up there :)

On the subject of Tags do not post anything excessive or unrelated to what is within the video. A lot of people think they can outsmart flaggers and YouTube by using certain keywords there because they don't show up unless you use VidIQ. I've seen channels appear in PewDiePie's related video section with videos unrelated to his content, checked their tags thru VidIQ and have found that their videos contain no such relation or even mention to PewDiePie apart from his and other bigger channel names being used as keywords. Channels get taken down for misusing the tag sections like that. So to see how trusty flagging is when it comes to reporting abusive and misleading content that tries to trick YouTube's algorithm I flagged several videos that met this criteria across three channels. Within a week those channels were Terminated. I felt bad about it after their terminations and I still do but I had to see how seriously YouTube takes those TOS violations :x I probably should of only flagged one video for each channel to see if the Videos would get taken down but hey, If YouTube is okay with Users flagging content than I'm okay with it.

It's what it's there for really, if they're breaking the tos repeatedly then its tough when it gets reported to youtube. I can't stand seeing videos ranking high for things they shouldn't rank at all for. There's a lot of big channels stuffing their descriptions with keywords or writing them into seo stories so there's less chance of a ban.

I agree that VidIQ is a useful extension. I don't keep it activated all of the time though. I only activate it when I'm doing some homework =)

I agree with you all about the tags. Its annoying when somebody spams the tags. But I find this extension useful when you are struggling to find the right tags for the right content.

I wish they would bring the damn thing to FireFox, I hate having to use Chrome everytime I want to check tags or stats lol It's a nice feature.
