Videos that reach over 10,000 views

Is it true that once a video has gained over 10,000 or 100,000 views, ads will still automatically appear on it even if it was never monetized or the content creator has never joined a partnership with adsense?
 
I dont think so.. I have a video about the schools system and how ****** up it is and it has about 50.000 views or so if I remember correct but there is no ads on that video... There are also videos that are considered "not suitable" for advertisers and I guess that goes even though they got 100.000 views
