I agree with the other posters. It seems like you should do what you feel like. The theme of the channel will be you and your personality. Over time it might evolve into something more focused, if you want.

Thank you. I am glad to hear that from my fellow YTers because for some reason I felt like there had to be a structure or formula to have a successful channel. I'm glad to hear that being you is all that matters

I think the advice to have a channel that only does X can be sound (people like to know why they're subscribing), but reviewing other things isn't really too out of your wheelhouse, it seems, since you're obviously a reviewer that your subscribers trust. So maybe do YouTube searches on other products you know well and see if you have an opinion that may be helpful to the same folks who look for those types of things.

Thanks. I had stuck to reviews of gun stuff since that's what I know after my time in the Marines. Now with a good number of years as a diesel mechanic I may start tool reviews. Since I feel like that's not an overly saturated area yet.

I did the exact same thing. My first channel was all about firearms, but in the mix I posted a couple gaming videos. I'd do a review or a video of me shooting and it would get a hundred or so views, but my gaming clips were at like 25k each. I ended up just starting a second channel about video games and have been there every since. Go with whichever you prefer and which your budget allows (second part is a big reason I'm doing the gaming stuff instead now)

How was the process of starting over? I'm happy with my progress thus far that's why I am not sure about starting over. Thanks for the insight Im glad to hear someone else has been through the same thing

For me, I went with what I found more enjoyable, and what I could afford to work towards. I made annotations and changed the description of my gaming vids to point to the new gaming channel, so that gave me an initial boost. I kind of stopped doing the firearm videos after I started the gaming ones, they were just more enjoyable and more rewarding it seemed like.
With your channel, honestly I'd just continue with whatever you prefer. If you like doing the firearms videos, do that. If you can find a way to incorporate gear/accessories and segway that into the firearms videos, even better.

A similar thing happened to me. I started my channel about pond building type stuff and did a random video review on a led light for a saltwater tank. That review video 9 months later makes up almost 50% of my total channel views. I've since switched over to gaming but I decided to just stick with the same channel. I changed up the name , banner, etc, but kept my original videos/ playlists. I know it's a mixed bag of oppinions and a lot will say do not diversify your channel. I think i'm opposed to that which is why I kept my videos completely unrelated to gaming. You have a lot of interests, as do I, and it would be a huge time sink trying to manage 5-10 different channels if you only want their to be 1 "interest" per channel. Personally if I watch a video I really like, I will sub even if that is not all they do. Most of the big name youtubers attract users based on their personality, so people actually come to watch them, not necessarily what the video is about if that makes sense.[DOUBLEPOST=1456189051,1456188219][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh I almost forgot. Hey! Thanks for the advice. I will probably just update my Channel and keep one channel. At least someone gets the username. I wasn't an artilleryman but I spent a lot of time working with them and short rounds is the term we used on all of our live fire infantry assault courses where I was an instructor for 3 years.

Ah ok cool. Well a "technical" short round, is obviously one that falls way short of the intended target. Ever see one of those vid's where a mortar guy hangs a round, and it barely pops back out of the tube, and everyone runs. Extreme short round. LoL. Sorry I'll get back on topic. I really think I'd go with a multi use channel for now. If in the future you get a huge following for one section of your vid's, you may want to consider some dedicated channels at that point.
