Video went VIRAL! News stole my video - now what?

Why would they ask permission to give a direct link to your video? Your definition of stealing doesn't match reality. Embedding videos enables ad clicks and provides views. So in actual fact, you are directly benefiting from them linking to you. There's a good possibility they are the reason your video has the views in the first place.
There's no need to be bitter in life. Not the brightest idea to be rude when you have directly linked your YT channel on this forum. Just some food for thought.

PS - They had given the other YouTuber credit and not me. Plus, they referred to me as someone I wasn't which resulted in a lot of dislikes. When I replied to comments viewers left telling them "I wasnt this ____ person" They replied, "Sorry I thought you were so and so."

Thanks! But what do I say? LOL. Can I still do that if it's embedded?

There's nothing rude about explaining how the YouTube system operates and advising you that your use of the word "stole" was wrong. Your reaction to the tone of my message is irrelevant to the accuracy of the information.

Embedding is allowed and they don't technically steal the video. Plus if you have enabled monetising you will make tons.

Getting your video ripped off and uploaded to Facebook is another issue. That's what you should be concerned.

OP, embedded videos (expecially on POPULAR websites) bring your video more views, more ad revenue, gives better video and channel rankings over time. Its your success that they do embed your video. What else do you want from them? You should be thankfull to them as they promote your video and channel as well as giving your video/channel better rankings. Tarmack is correct saying that its most likely those embeds of your viral video on websites played a big role that your video got viral! And yes - "stealing" is clearly wrong definition in this case. Stealing is when someone re-uploads your video to his own channel without your permission and gets all those benefits for himself like popularity, ad revenue.

p.s. you always have an opition to disallow embedding in video settings (in case if you want to monitor how your video views and ad revenue will decrease)

I am 99.9% sure you can do this but if you click on your video and go into the advanced settings you can cancel embedding, not sure if it would remove the video on the news website but your are gaining views having them there. It's honestly your choice you could do what ever you want it's your video!
