Video Series vs. One off Videos

Music and Mess...
Wanted to start a little discussion about video series vs. one off videos. How do you prefer to release your videos? Make a series and release episodes or just record whatever you're feeling and upload.

Personally I like to organize things into different video series to keep the channel clean but also like having a place for those little random awesome things you make that don't 'fit the mold' so to speak! So, what does everyone else like to do?

Well I think as a gaming channel it is good to do both, but I guess that applies for any kind of channel. Some people really enjoy long series whereas some people just want stuff that is quick and funny or enjoyable.

Yeah good point. With gaming channels it's easy to make things into a series since each game could be one. There's a Hearthstone series I watch that's up too 91 episodes now!

Yes! Plus it makes your content more varied

Defiantly! Another point too add is that different playlists for example can help your audience watch what they want too. Say you have vlog series and gaming series, with them being different series in their own playlists helps people watch what they want too!

You my good sir know your stuff! 10 points awarded to you!

I LOVE making multi-part videos that span a larger storyline. That's how my channel started out. I found it insanely hard to retain an audience across multiple videos though, but I only had like 4 subs back then...

I can't wait to film another roadtrip and see if I can get more people to watch all of it. It's going to be a while before I have the chance to do something like that again, though.

Awesome! So do you film like say a 6 part series and then upload it weekly/bi-weekly and so on? Almost like a TV series!

Pretty much! Whenever we take a roadtrip we end up with hours and hours of footage, so I release weekly parts. It's definitely my favorite way to release content. You get to create self-contained narratives for each part, as well as an overarching story. Super fun. :)
