Video Game Walkthrough Length

I've Got It
Hello everyone! So far the community has been very helpful! I am wanting to rebrand my channel and one thing is doing Let's Play walkthrough hybrids. Walkthroughs with a bit of commentary but none of the flashy editing of most Let's Play videos, you get to see how to beat the entire game with tips. Also, almost all of the games would be 100% completion attempts, meaning I will try to cover the ENTIRE game and all of it's secrets.

I do have an issue though... Video length for walkthroughs. Some people do like 10 minutes, some do 30 minutes, and some just record the entire game and upload hours of game footage. Considering I'm rebranding I don't want to do videos hours and hours long, but 10 minute videos can take a while. For instance, I want to do the game Psychonauts because I loved the game, but the average time to 100% complete it 22 hours. That is 1320 minutes long, which means if I did 10:00 videos, that is a 132 episode long series for a game that is popular, but not the hottest game on the market. I am bound to lose more than half of the audience after the 10th episode or so and just see deminishing numbers.

So I ask you, how long do you think video game walkthroughs should be? I want to do about 15-20 minute videos, but I want other peoples opinions.

I always shoot for 15-20 on any I do. My teams working on Don't Starve Together (actually on Steam exported to Youtube on that series) but I clip everything to around 16 min. It works perfect with Don't Starve because of the day cycles. Yours may vary depending on the game. Finding a natural feeling stop point between episodes is always a challenge!

Yeah, each game is different so I will probably have to test the game out and see how things feels which isn't bad since I am doing walkthroughs and it could help me remember all of the secrets and possibly get things done faster. I was going to follow theRadBrads method, but he does like 20-30 minutes, and I feel with only 674 subs that that is way too long, I need to start with shorter videos.

I would shoot for 15 minutes. Anything longer and people start to wonder off, from the statistics I seen. It's going to depend on when, you can break the game but not interrupt story flow.

I think anything under 20 minutes is way too short. It should be between 20 and 30. It can be longer but at that point you should probably have a well-established channel and confidence in your content.

This is from my personal opinion as a viewer.
The exception to this though is if you're playing bad games for lol's. Those types of videos can end as soon as your disgust/torment stops being amusing.

Thanks for the feedback. I may do a poll with my viewers to see what they want. 20-30 minutes would allow me to blow through games, but if people are only investing 9 minutes of their time to watch a video of mine then I would need to do something closer to 15 minutes.
