Video Focusing

I have a Canon Rebel T3i which does not have continuous video auto focus. I was wondering how you guys keep yourselves in focus during the whole video? and how you focus before a video if the button is just out of reach? Me and my friend have recently started a collab channel and it would be very useful to know. Thanks in advance. - Gillian

the key to a good focus is good lighting... make sure you are light well.. and that your lighting separates you from the back ground..

Purchase a remote compatible with the rebel and focus that way. Then, avoid moving forwards and backwards with regards to the camera. If you stay the same distance away from the lens, you won't go out of focus.

I use the Hahnel Giga T Pro 2 remote, its a great remote for both photography and focusing on yourself, it is a little too much for just focusing on yourself but it works perfect for me every time, refocusing become simple when I got it.

Thanks for the remote suggestion! I think i'm going to pick one up and I will consider choosing that one c:

Youre welcome. Theyre a bit expensive at around £60 but its a good quality remote, I have left mine on overnight taking shots of the sky without it going off or having issues and I always use it for focusing on myself. I hate doing videos of myself without it :D With it you are almost guaranteed not to mess the focusing up. You could try a cheaper one, search for wireless t3i remote or wireless 600D remote online there will be alternatives out there.

Yeah, I do enjoy taking time lapses and having a remote would make it easier. The Hahnel Giga T Pro 2 Remote sounds great and I could use it for many things, but before I make my decision I will make sure to look around :D
