video editing software suggestions?

So recently got a PC, just a basic so I can edit my mobile gaming and vlogs, but I want to figure out how to have a color or a background replace the black that shows up becuase of the portrait view, but I don't know any softwares that allow you to put the video in, and put in a background as well, any suggestions on free softwares that can do that?
