Video editing software. preferably free.

Hey guys i currently use wondershare video editing which is ok for my videos but im looking at making a small step up. Im looking for some decent video software that i can add more customization to. If you have ever used wondershare then you will know that whilst it is a good programme theres not a great deal of customization. If you have seen my videos you will see the basics of it. Anyway can you guys recommend some good either free/cheap video software with lots of choices for editing. Thanks. (i make gaming videos and reviews)

i have tried hitfilm 4 express but seems realllllllllllyy complicated and is a big programme to run. or is it simple after a few tutroials?

I found it quite simple for myself, though I was using Hitfilm 3 express and not 4.
