Video Editing Programs? And best cameras to use?

Hello guys! I've been wanting to make vlog style videos like KickThePJ, DrewIsSharing, AlexToTheWatson, and such. But I really want to know what kind of cameras and editing software they use? Does anyone know? Basically, just a program that gives cool hipstery/psychedellic effects and what not. Just for vlogs, both indoors and outdoors. I've been using Windows Movie Maker but it's kind of lame. If anyone can answer these questions, please reply! Thanks x

They are probably using one of the most popular editing software, which are Sony Vegas, Adobe Premier or Final Cut pro (mac).

No one is really better than any other. It's all about personal preferences.

If your using an I.O.S device I would suggest using "Splice" but for computer no idea, Sony Vegas is good but is REALLY expensive :/

I started off on WMM too, but now I use Sony Movie Studio Platinum Suite 12. It's great and it'll definitely do what you're looking for. I got it on Amazon for around £25, so I'm not sure how much that is in your currency.

I'm pretty sure I remember PJ using a Canon DSLR. If you wanted one of them the t2i, t3i, t4i can all give you a really good image and i think that may be what he uses. Might want to have a look into the details of the autofocus though, as you might want to make it easier for yourself in video mode. In reality though, there's plenty of cameras out there that are cheap and look good, so do some research and when you find some that you like and have good reviews, search them up on YouTube and see what the footage looks like. For the editing, pj probably uses like Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut or something like that. I've probably seen it in one of his videos but I forgot. Some of the effects he does is probably manual stuff that took a bit of time, or was some expensive plug-in. Maybe do some searching on the web for a cheap editor that has some cool effects built-in that you can just drop onto your clips :)
I remember PJ's videos with explosions and stuff and I can tell you that that is from Action Essentials (1 or 2) which is $99, but requires some compositing software and gets a bit complicated. I thought I'd just mention that in case that's what you were thinking. It probably wasn't, but anyway.
I hope that was of some help at least. If you have any questions feel free to ask :)

I'm not sure about those vloggers, but DanIsNotOnFire uses a canon 60d, and his videos are amazing! Not sure what he edits with, but if you google it, google tends to know everything about all the youtubers! :)

An alternative to the Canons is the Panasonic GH-2. They're not only cheaper (especially since the GH-3 came out), but while they look like DSLRs they focus more on the video than the stills and take better looking video (IMO and a bunch of other people's opinion) than even the Canon 5D MKIII which costs about 8x what the GH2 does.

GH2 also have the benefit that with a $20 lens adapter you can even use Canon lenses (or Nikon with a Nikon adapter).

Ultimately though, it's less about the camera and more about learning how to use it. I know guys that can make an iphone look like a movie and I know people that shoot on expensive cameras and their stuff looks like sh.. uh, really bad. :)

I use the Nikon 1 which isnt a DSLR but is not a regular small camera for my Live Cams when I play games. Its pretty good even though I edit it to 720P so I dont know what the real look is, but from what I see it looks good on my screen. Check it out.
