VIDCON!?

Hey there people of the forum! As a fellow youtuber , I have thought of attending vidcon 2014, but due to the expenses I decided not to. This doesn't mean I won't be attending vidcon 2015 though! So I would like to know, if you have ever attended vidcon or a similar convention. If yes, did the experience help you to: 1)Meet new youtubers 2)Grow your channel 3)Collaborate 4)Learn new things. My overall expenses to attend vidcon would be something around $2000! Is it worth it? Because that's a lot of money! Thanks in advance!

Would probably cost me the same to go to vidcon
So I'd rather head to one that's only a boat away in england :D

Well everyones Vidcon experience would of course be different, but everyone who I have talked to about going to vidcon, has said that it helped them with all those things, even if just in the slightest. But It really depends on how you choose to spend and experience vidcon.

If you do end up going, I'd suggest you make up a BUNCH of little, simple, effective, catching, business cards (for your channel) to hand out to random people. From what I've heard these are super effective!
 
From what I heard from the smaller youtubers....its not helpful really at all..just a place to meet some youtubers...so if you are a smaller youtuber with no physcial fanbase..it probably won't be worth it.
 
I think it would be fun to go, but I can't justify the expense either. YouTube is really only a hobby for me and my career comes first - so instead I spend $2500 - 3000/year going to the Adobe Marketing Summit, which is the conference for me to network and build my business.
 
I would go if it wasn't such a big expense and I could justify going, I wouldn't mind getting a table for YTtalk there in the future but I dont think were at that stage just yet where the costs involved would be justifiable considering the table price, flights, accommodation and that's without spending money :D You have much more chance of me going to SITC even though I am rather put off it based on @TheBatteryChicken's experience of there with it being mostly fans rather than creators.
 
Yeah, I think it would be cool to go to one, but the cost is just too much, and when you look at both sides of the coin, it's just not worth the cost. Never know though... It could just be part of some big vacation somewhere down the line. That'd be awesome.
 
I would go, but I don't have any friends who are interested in Youtube and I wouldn't want to go alone. Maybe one year though I will go, seems like its pretty fun.
