VidCon 2014 - How was it?

Vidcon was crazy fun. I made someone throw up just by walking by with a durian wrapped in several plastic bags. Fullscreen made us revamp our show after that, but to make up for it, they gave us a second member of O2L for fear pong and we terrorized those guys so much that they threw up on each other during the show. This was from our kinder gentler revised show.

The new format for the exhibition hall sucks. It feels like Vidcon is just after sponsor money. There were no live music acts allowed at the booths. If you wanted to get your artists in, you had to sponsor the stage outside and that bidding was won by awesomeness tv.

Everything was far more organized than last year, but they still need to do something about opening time each day. It was so bad on Saturday that I went back to my car to sleep for an hour even though my car reeked of durian. The fangirls are still out of control and it seems like there's nothing that can be done to stop them.. Vidcon should implement a policy and just take their passes away when they cross the line.

The parties were (and always are) the highlight of Vidcon. With the first party, I found out that it only takes one minute to get into VIP even if I didn't get an invite because of our channel size. I had a few others with me that were tagged in this post and they let my entire group in with no questions asked. The best party of Vidcon goes to The Collective. It was at The House of Blues on Friday night. I managed to get on the guest list and brought a few people including @randomlilnikki with me. Nearly every big youtuber was at the party, so we got to talk with just about everyone all night. There weren't any fans allowed in, so it was a much more casual experience where everyone could just relax and enjoy the night.

My Vidcon isn't over yet. I have a full day of filming collabs with people still in town at YouTube Space tomorrow followed by the final Vidcon party which is also at YouTube Space.
 
SO JEALOUS! I really regret not going because now I live in US but next year I will be back in Europe and will have to pay like shitloads of money to fly to LA. Maybe by then I will be making crazy youtube money and I will get invited.. ahh I'm daydreaming.
anyways, I'm really glad that you had fun and that some of "our" people got to go there! YAY
 
Vidcon was awesome. Met tons of people, even talked to @Wreckless Eating for a while. Just as cool and genuine in real life as in the videos, which is awesome. I was pretty much videoing every single day with different pranksters and such, so I didn't really have time to go to many panels except one. The panel was pretty cool, but it wasn't really anything I didn't know already. So I wouldn't really go to vidcon if all you plan on doing was going to the panels.

Perhaps next year I will spend less time recording and more time talking to all of my friends and such! As for the after parties, they were slightly hard to get into, if you didn't know anyone. I was just lucky enough to run into people who would get me in, or people who invited me to the parties. Even one time I asked Jeanna Marbles to get me inside of the party, long story short... confidence in asking for such requests pay's off in the end lol.

By the end of the week you've probably seen most of the people you wanted to see already. And have seen very random moments throughout the vidcon experience. For example on Saturday night, like 2 am Sam Pepper was blasting music in the convention with like 20 people, and cops came. It was hilarious. Thanks for everyone for reporting back. It's so awesome reading all of the different stories!

This thread has motivated me to work even harder on my channel and grow it to such a size whereby I can justify a trip to Vidcon 2015 and hopefully meet up with some other YouTubers and YTtalkers. I'm deadly serious btw! :cool:
